Setsuna felt it had been enough time for Duck to get settled in, and he was bored, yet again, so the day was deemed perfect for a special stake out attempt. He honestly didn't think they'd find anything, but it would be worth it to try. And still, one could never know.
He left a note for Kira, Sara and Katou to let them know he would be out with a friend and not to worry, then composed a letter to Duck, and another to Cayce.
Duck,
You doing well? Settled in, I hope?
Anyhow, I thought today would be a good day to stake out the mail boxes. I'm gonna send out a letter to Cayce for her to write me back, but not too soon. To wait an hour or so. Then we'll stake out the area near my mailbox. If we don't see anyone by evening, we'll check the mailbox.
I'll even take a pen and write replies from the mailbox if I have to.
You can find me over at Tomorrowland. Do you know where that is? I live at the Honey, I Shrunk the Audience theatre with Kira, Katou and Sara.
See you then.
- Setsuna
Cayce,
Wish I could say I was writing to find out what's going on in your life around here, but...that's not it, though I would like to know.
That aside, Duck and I are going to stake out the mailboxes to see if anyone ever makes deliveries, so if you could just hold off a response for an hour or so? Maybe even two? That would be great. We should be set up by then.
Thanks!
-Setsuna
That done, Setsuna sent off the letters, then waited in front of the theatre.
[ooc: Anyone is welcome to come along and ask what the heck they think they're doing. XD They'll just shush you and try to make you hide with them. Or you could talk sense into them?]

Date: 2008-06-27 06:54 pm (UTC)She played a few games of pinball, and then it finally occurred to her to go look outside the theatre to see if Setsuna was there.
sorry wrong account >__< AGAIN
Date: 2008-06-27 07:03 pm (UTC)"Hey there!" he called out with a wave. "That bored are you?" Then again, he couldn't blame anyone. The games, radio shows, exploring and rides were only entertaining for so long.
no worries. ^_^

Date: 2008-06-27 07:03 pm (UTC)Setsuna,
Yup, I'm doing fine! I even met a goddess, would you believe? There really are a lot of different people here! I know that kind of thing would never happen at home; probably because any goddess who turned up at Gold Crown would rather meet the Advanced Class, like my friend Rue than me, but I think mostly because there aren't any real gods and goddesses. Or maybe there are, but they're the quiet type.
Anyway! I've found a place in Critter Country, and you're welcome to come visit! It's hidden pretty well, but if you just stand by the big lake and call for me I'll turn up.
Okay! I'll be right there - sorry if I take a little while, I'll probably get lost, I'm not great at reading maps - and then we'll start our mission! I'll bring a picnic or something!
- Duck x
It did take her quite a while to reach the theatre, and when she did so she was walking backwards, glancing between the street and her battered copy of the Disneyland map (she'd only had it for a little while, but she'd dropped it in the lake three times and in her food four). She tripped over her own feet, gave a little shriek of surprise, dropped her map, and was sent towards the theatre.
"Ow," said Duck, eyes closed and rubbing the back of her head. She opened her eyes and looked up, then her face split into a grin, injury apparently forgotten. "Setsuna! Hi there!"

Date: 2008-06-27 07:11 pm (UTC)He decided to keep in mind he could find her in Critter Country, mused over which goddess it was that Duck met, and thought a picnic was a damn good idea.
When she showed up, Setsuna ended up doubled over in laughter. He wasn't trying to be mean, but still.... Between his laughter, he called out, "You okay?" and headed over to her to make sure she was all right.
"Is any of the food still in tact? If not, we can just get more. There's lots of food places around here.

Date: 2008-06-27 07:18 pm (UTC)She looked down at the bag she'd packed with any food she'd been able to recognise that was travel-friendly. Duck gingerly took a peek inside and sighed. "Not much of it. Sorry, Setsuna. I can go hunt for something else to eat while you guard the mailbox. Or would you prefer me to guard while you hunt? I'm fine with either, but I should do the one you don't want to do, because it's my fault for spoiling the picnic."

Date: 2008-06-27 07:52 pm (UTC)He laughed. "Tell you what. I told Cayce to wait for a while, and there's a place with food near here. You want to go together?" he asked her. "Then if we take too long, I'll just send you back and keep getting food. If we come back and Cayce has already responded I can just write back to her. No problem."

Date: 2008-06-27 08:03 pm (UTC)She nodded. "Okay!" She took a few steps, then stopped and turned back to Setsuna with a sheepish look. "Um. Now? And, um. Where?"
no subject
Date: 2008-06-27 08:46 pm (UTC)"Yeah, now. Before it gets any later," Setsuna told her, then pointed to the closest restaurant. "And there. Come on, let's go."
no subject
Date: 2008-06-27 08:54 pm (UTC)She followed his finger, nodded once, and set off at a brisk walk towards the restaurant, taking extra care not to fall over anything. "How long have you been here, Setsuna?"

Date: 2008-06-28 03:34 pm (UTC)The red-headed girl nodded and grinned. "That's the spirit! The answer can't hide forever, not even in a place as big as this!"
Duck gave Setsuna a questioning look and tried to say, "Huh?" around her mouthful of bread. "I'm-" she swallowed, "not that bad. Probably." She did not, however, take another bite until they'd sat down after the discovery of Cayce's letter.
"That's a really pretty picture," Duck said as she looked at it over Setsuna's shoulder. "The fairy, I mean, though your angel was really good too! Was the fairy wearing a tutu? It looked a bit like she was. A practice tutu, not a full one." She plopped down beside the boy and immediately took a large bite out of her bread, content to wait. She had to admit, this place had tasty bread.

*waves* People are so welcome to come bug them, make fun of them, whatever you like.
Date: 2008-06-29 04:30 pm (UTC)Once she was grinning again, Setsuna found he felt better and nodded along to what she said. "As long as we keep looking."
He laughed when she defended the extent of clumsiness, but was relieved when they were sitting down and nothing else had happened.
To Duck's opinion of the postcard, Setsuna shrugged and said, "I have no clue. It just looks like a torn dress to me. And my angel was just a quick drawing. Nothing special." At least, he had never been anything special in art classes back home.
They weren't going to check the mailbox right away, so Cayce's postcard would go a while sitting there. In the meantime, he decided eating and talking with Duck would pass the time nicely.

Date: 2008-06-29 05:05 pm (UTC)She opened her mouth to reply that she had thought it was a pretty angel when a new person walked by, and she waved cheerfully at him. "Hi there!" she called. "What'cha doin'?"

Date: 2008-06-29 05:10 pm (UTC)"Hey! Kyouya. Want some pizza or bread?" Setsuna offered out.

Date: 2008-06-30 04:00 am (UTC)"Ah, Setsuna!" he said cheerfully. "Thank you, but I just ate." Which was true, but it was also true that he found the Disneyland 'pizza' disgusting. He glanced at Duck and smiled. "And hello to you as well. Nothing too important, I was just out for a walk. But I don't believe we've met." He extended a hand. "Kyouya Ootori."

Date: 2008-06-30 05:12 pm (UTC)"It is big, isn't it? By my last count, I believe the number is somewhere in the 70s. It's difficult, without a a census, to be exact, especially with all of the comings and goings. For example, I didn't have a note about your arrival, Duck. But it's a pleasure to meet you."
He usually tried to write down the names and impressions of newcomers, but he frequently missed arrivals.
