((Continuing from this post.))

In the passageways beneath the park, where a group had gathered to break down a long-closed door, a laser beam was widening, and a broad circle began to blacken the surface of the wood, the locks melting and streaming down in shining rivulets, to puddle at the doorstep. The room was getting hot, now.

Outside, all at once, the rides all stopped. Animatronic figures jolted still; boats bumped each other confusedly; rollercoasters fell to the bottom of their tracks and did not continue up. The lights inside the buildings flickered off; the perpetual background noise of music and soundeffects went silent.

Below, the hole in the door began to crackle and spark around the edges, and for just a moment all the eyes trained on the door could see through it a fathomless darkness. An odd, organic silence filled the air; everyone's breathing and small movements were audible, but so too was a new absence of sound, as though the walls were all holding their breath.

And then the air around the door began to shimmer.

((Closed to Cayce, Azi, Crowley, and Ellie. Backdated to a day or two after the Bentley Babes caper.))

Cayce wasn't jealous. That much was easy enough to define; she cared for Crowley a lot, but not That Way. And notwithstanding her admission at the community Truth or Dare game, she definitely wasn't queer for Ellie either, although she certainly liked her well enough. Actually, she thought the two of them pairing up was kind of cute.

But for reasons she was still hard pressed to identify, she was a little perturbed when the two of them up and vanished from the lake party, and clearly Aziraphale was too. They'd exchanged a few half-heartedly snarky (and subtly worried) comments at the time before finally sort of shrugging it off, and Cayce had said something about coming by the tea shop later.

So now she was suiting action to the word. She sort of hoped that Crowley wouldn't be around. It'd spare everyone a touch of awkwardness.

It was the day after the meeting.

Cayce waited at the statue for the underground expedition to show up. It was a bit bigger and more unwieldly than she'd originally intended, and keeping everyone in line was going to be worse than herding cats, but ... well, you pays your money and you makes your bets.

She really, really hoped this was going to work.

((Here's how this works: if you are participating in the expedition, post a comment in the Meetup thread below to indicate that you're showing up. The main body of the RP will go in the Expedition thread, in which the team actually goes underground and does their thing.))

At some point after Pirate Day, an announcement came on over the park PA system.

"Hi everyone. This is Cayce Pollard. I'd like everyone to come to a meeting tonight to discuss a new discovery that's been made about the park. The meeting's in the Honey I Shrunk the Audience auditorium, at sundown. This is pretty important, so please be there if you can."

That evening ...

Don't forget to keep your head warm )

***

After the various discussions had settled out somewhat, Cayce finally cleared her throat.

"Okay, so here's the plan. Tomorrow at midday, anyone who wants to join the underground expedition should meet at the statue. It sounds like the time dilation or whatever it is makes time pass more slowly belowground than up here, so I think Adam and Setsuna will be fine. We should take the time to get ready with whatever we'll need to bring with us." Plus, of course, it was Adam. Of course they'd be fine. "Then, once we're at the door and ready to proceed, the—the Master will send a signal to the Doctor, who'll lead the distruption. Anyone has any other questions, find me. Thanks, everybody."

((And there will be a fresh post for the expedition when my life is a little more normal.))

It had been a bit much, despite Setsuna's adaption to Disneyland and the bit of maturity he had experienced; when Katou, Sara and Kurai disappeared, he found himself deeply depressed. He didn't feel like doing much, and as he could feel Kira's location, he locked himself in the theatre's radio booth. In the very least, he kept his music to himself, not wanting to draw attention to the radio, but none of it was very happy music.

Happy music, at the moment, just annoyed him.

There was, he feared, though, a limited amount of time before Kira discovered where he was, stalked after him, and dragged him out. That would be one reason he hadn't bothered going off into hiding. Kira would just find him anyway. For now, he stared absently at the door and tried to think about what he would do when Kira came along.

Nothing came to mind. He just hoped it wasn't for a while, and that Kira understood.

It was late in the afternoon, getting on toward sundown, and Una Persson stood on the deck of the Miss Daisy, smoking a cigarette and leaning on the railing in an unselfconscious pose slightly reminiscent of Garbo. It would have been all very old-Hollywood apart from the cartoon silliness of the boat itself.

"Some sod's up to something," she said out loud. As an observation it wasn't particularly helpful or insightful, because some sod was always up to something, but the sentence had the soothing familiarity of a mantra, and she needed that.

It had been a very bad day. )

A cute little guy wearing thick goggles blinks in the sunlight and pushes the goggles up his forehead. He's in a strange place, he realizes as he looks around, and he frowns for a few seconds. It's the surface here all right, but it doesn't look like the surface he knows, and he's all alone.

Well, not quite alone-- a small, mole-like animal scampers up his shoulder and squeaks reassuringly. "Hey, Boota! I wonder how we got here?" Simon asks the mole-pig, and then sits down and pats the pavement beneath him-- it's a really strange material he's never felt before, and he's having a bit of trouble sensing where the weak point is. He prods the surface of the pavement, frowning, and then takes the drill hanging around his neck in a necklace and begins to probe at the surface.

Yet again when the decorations went up, Setsuna was caught by surprise and realized Kira's birthday must have passed, once more, without recognition. Flailing, annoyed at himself, Setsuna grabbed some ice cream, a couple of sodas and some pizza, then rushed back to the theatre, hoping he could find Kira.

He half wanted to throw Kira a surprise party like Kira had done to for him, but Setsuna didn't want to wait too long to celebrate, and didn't feel like planning since he'd already failed to keep track of time properly, even for guestimating purposes. So, instead, he decided a personal little party would feel more like old times, and therefore be more special. But one day, he promised himself, Kira was getting a huge surprise thrown at him, one way or another. Eventually.

Setsuna closed in on Kira's aura in the back and found the other male reading - not surprising - and shouted a bit, "Happy birthday!" hoping to startle Kira before he realized Setsuna was there. If not that, then at least make it clear to anyone else in the theatre it was time to go bug Kira.

Franziska, upon being sorted to Toon Town, went there to look around, but found it unacceptably foolish as anticipated. There would certainly be no question of her staying there, but she wasn't finding anything approaching suitable lodgings.

A bit frustrated but not ready to give up, she posted an announcement to the bulletin board.

Attention Residents of Disneyland,

I , Franziska von Karma, shall be requiring a place to stay during the short time I will remain here. I am aware certain of you who are too incompetent to leave within a timely fashion have prepared yourselves long term arrangements to bring comfort to your stay.

If you are a resident of the best lodgings in the park, kindly provide the location of said lodgings here, and then vacate the premises as soon as you are able so that I can move in. It would be best if this could be accomplished this evening prior to sundown so that I will be able to get situated.

Your cooperation is appreciated.

Sincerely,

Franziska von Karma.

One quiet afternoon found Aziraphale at the bulletin board, putting up a notice written in old-fashioned flowing script.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

A non-denominational, interfaith prayer assembly will be held at the Golden Horsehoe in Frontierland, three nights hence at sunset. All are welcome, regardless of faith or lack thereof, who come with respect and peaceable intentions.

If interested, please make a note of it here or via post to Mr. Fell at Club 33. Questions or comments are welcome.

Aeryn lounges back against the corridor wall and strips wires, a little lazily perhaps, but with her usual diligence and careful attention. It’s quiet on Moya; John’s taken the baby off somewhere for the afternoon, and Aeryn’s enjoying the peace. She’s enjoying Peace as well, and the quiet and calm that comes with that.

If she’s honest she knows that sooner or later she’ll get bored of such stillness, but then, just because war is no longer a threat doesn’t mean Moya and her now very small crew won’t manage to attract some trouble before long. In a way it’s one of the reasons she loves her husband so much, although she’d never tell him that. Well, unless he’s very good.

If there’s one thing she’s not prepared for, taking a few arns to herself like this, working on Moya in a way she’s come to love, it’s to suddenly be somewhere else entirely.

On a planet, apparently, under a blue sky and a mid-sized yellow sun. )

((Here she is at last, the much talked about, lovely Sebacean soldier who recently became wife to John Crichton and mother to his son. Aeryn Sun (pronunciation lies sort of between ‘sun’ and ‘soon’) is taken from about a month after the end of the Peacekeeper Wars, and so is from a bit later than John, after the war has been ended and the baby’s been born. Come say hello! And visit her profile for a biography and links.

I have much encouragement, begging and pleading and bribery permission from Crichton mun for the app. And this is Daniel/Sam/Doctor/Artoo-mun.))

[The Beatles' "A Hard Day's Night" plays.]

That was for Kira, who's wondering why we don't get more requests for Beatles songs. Good question, Kira.

So. [Weighty pause.]

I got a total of four, count 'em, four requests from two people. And Kira's there was one. I'll go ahead and play through the rest before figuring out exactly how you guys are going to pay for this.

First up, here's "Ordinary Day" by Great Big Sea, a "happy song with the word 'day' in it" from Orihime to Kira.

Orihime would also like to hear "Night and Day" by Bette Midler.

That "Night and Day" shouldn't be confused with the Cole Porter song. A version of which has been requested by Kira, and is dedicated to "the object of his obsession." So here's your request, Kira, as performed by Frank Sinatra.

[Pause.]

Okay, here's what's going to happen. I'm going to play every single version of Cole Porter's "Night and Day" that we have up here. You want to hear something else, call in and let me know.

Music Nerd Central presents: EIGHT versions of "Night and Day". Including one featuring John Barrowman pre-Jack Harkness. )

I think that's all the versions we've got up here, at least the ones I've found so far. Aren't you glad? Call in if you want to hear something else. Otherwise it'll be every version I can find of "Memory" from Cats or some crap like that.

*((And because there is some warmth in my shrunken little heart, I offer as well this bootlegged video of Barrowman performing the song "De-Lovely", which I'm guessing is from a production of Anything Goes. Chris Chibnall, are you listening? All-singing-all-dancing special episode of Torchwood NOW, please. Also, I really want to know who the girl is performing with Barrowman there. She's great.))

Katou knew it was all levels of wrong. He really did. He had barely been able to stand Kyouya before, and had only been using him to further his own purposes, but really, he hadn't wanted someone this badly in ... in... well, a really, really long time.

And so, he went to seek out Kira.

"Hey Kira, you around somewhere?" he called .

When Fay and Kurogane didn't show up for a day, Chii started to get worried - they'd never just left her before all night by herself - so the next morning, she decided the best thing to do was ask everyone else in the park, as they were always so helpful, after all~! And she felt she should let them know something, too, just in case. Chii, after all, wasn't oblivious to the people leaving thing, not after Mokona and Sakura.

Dear everyone,

Fay-mommy and Kuro-daddy have not come home yet, and I am concerned. If you see them, please let them know I am waiting for them to come back.

In the event they have disappeared like others, then I will keep the Cat's Eye cafe open until either they return, or just for the rest of you so you can have Fay-mommy's goodies, which I also know how to make.

Please be well, and come have baked goods whenever you want.
