All are cordially invited to the first Disneyland Celebrate Your Culture Party!

When: The next new moon
Where: It's a Small World*
What: It's a response to the park's recent celebration of the American Fourth of July. Celebrate your native country, time, place, universe, or world in whatever way you want: dress up, bring food, you name it.
Plus, hey, party.

I'll be setting up the music, but if you have any requests, shoot me a letter.

Hope to see everyone there!

-CayceP

*not inside the ride, and many thanks to Psyche for offering to keep the music under control.

Cayce also sent a letter to Crowley:

Crowley,

So pursuant to this conversation I had with our friendly neighborhood Antichrist Adam, I'm planning a "celebrate your culture" party for a couple of weeks out from now. It's been a while since we had a proper party thing, anyway. (And the last time we had one I got snarked at by the Doctor. Sigh.) Can I prevail upon you to supply some alcoholic beverages?

Thanks,
C

Starbuck,

Hi there. I'm putting together this party for everyone to share stuff from their native worlds or cultures or what have you, and I was wondering if you'd be interested in teaching people to play Pyramid? If so, let me know, and also tell me what kind of space requirements you have, so that I can make sure there's enough room there.

Thanks,
-Cayce

((Party post will be going up slightly shy of the actual new moon, in about 10 days or so.))

Cayce,

Let me get this straight. You're taking a suggestion from Adam and all you want me for is the booze? Oh, the sad, sad life of a demon. I'm even screwed on the culture part. What am I supposed to celebrate? Uncomfortable office parties?

Tell you what, since I'm evil and everything, you'll get the better drinks if the Doctor doesn't show. Or his little pal.

Cayce,

Nono, if you're content to take party planning advice from the bland and countrified source of all evil rather than its impossibly good looking and recherche handmaiden, that's fine with me.

And if you want to celebrate tea and tweediness, I'm not the supernatural being you should be looking at. Besides, you Americans co-opted all our good holidays and left us with Boxing Day. Ta.

A true psychotic nutcase would take that as a personalized invitation. Don't worry about it. I can handle them. Time Lords don't seem to like it much when I mess with the fabric of space/time. Funny how that works...

Cayce,

(I'll have you know I'm not even trying. Perhaps it's a predisposition you weren't previously aware of...)

Cool urban London? If we have any holiday traditions other than standing in corners with overpriced martinis and glaring at people, I don't know what they are. Of course, I'd do that anyway.

That tends to be how they get away with it. Not that I'd know, or anything.

Cayce,

There are few constants in life. It's nice to be able to provide you with one of them.

Cayce,

This? Is a fantastic idea. Let me know if there's anything I can do to help. Adopted cultures okay?

Cayce,

You should ask Starbuck to teach people that game... Pyramid I think it's called. And I'll make a Senet board and pieces and teach people to play that. And maybe we could do something on name meanings? People could tell what their names mean if they know, and I could probably help some of the humans from Earth if they didn't.

And... food? That's what we always did in school, anyway. I'd be happy to try to make some of the dishes I learned on Abydos, or some of the stuff I used to eat as a kid. And it could be pretty interesting if some of the non-Earth originating people tried some of their own home dishes. Though that might be difficult with not having the right ingredients. Maybe you could get the Doctor to help with that? He's got a pretty extensive larder.

You gonna make everyone dress up?

Cayce,

(She sounds like a fun mom. And it's a lovely name with either pronunciation. *smiley-face doodle*)

Well, I'll dress up, anyway. Nothing takes the edge off of homesickness like traditional garb and food, in my opinion. Hopefully everyone will feel the same. And I've noticed that the Doctor is kind of flighty, so I bet it's no big deal, but I could give him a shout if you'd rather.

Cayce,

(Yeah, I'm familiar with it. And that's hilarious. In a good way.)

Sure, no problem. And I guess it'll be robes that are really sheets? Unless I can find some blankets that are more suitable, and sandals of some sort. I did learn how to weave my own, but finding materials could be challenging. I might have to cheat, haha.

Good luck with everything!

Cayce,

Haha. Well, you caught me, my secret adopted culture is the Old South.

See you soon,
Daniel

Cayce,

Teaching everyone in a party setting like that might be kind of difficult, since I'm guessing everyone's going to want to mingle and check other things out. But I could have a crash course, maybe. Teach people who are insterested the rules, let them learn some basic moves and then try to pull them all back together on a different day for a full game.
