Census-taking
Oct. 18th, 2007 10:32 amCayce glared at her notes.
She'd gotten sloppy, she realized; she hadn't been keeping up with the new arrivals nearly as well as she should, and she hadn't updated the park census in forever. Which meant it was time to do this the easy way.
So a large sheet of paper went up on the park bulletin board.
Hi everyone.
As some of you know, I've been keeping track of the population of the park, just so that we know who's here and where we can find them. I need to update my records, so please put your name and where you live on this sheet.
Also, if there is anyone you know of whois missing you haven't seen in a while, mail me privately.
Thanks for your help,
Cayce Pollard

Date: 2007-10-18 04:13 pm (UTC)Bernard pondered for a second if he should be helpful or not, but then concluded if she hadn't gone missing and was just hiding, someone might be able to help him find her to annoy, so he sent a letter off to Cayce.
I haven't seen the Doctor woman, what's her name? The one I still owe wet tobacco to the face?
Lisa, that's it! Cuddy, if my kippered memory serves me correctly.
She's nowhere to be seen. Shame, really, I wanted to push her in the fountain.
Bernard Black
Not that Cayce was supposed to understand half of his rambling there, but he did answer her question.
He scribbled on the notice board as an after thought,
Bernard Black, Black Hole, Next to the Popcorn Stand at the End of the Universe.
(or, just the Snow White ride-thing in Fantasyland. Pretty similar, if you think about it.)

Talking of which, are they multiplying?

A letter was sent privately to Cayce shortly after.
Cayce,
Be sure to add Pearl Fey to your list as well. She's staying with me at the First Aid Station, and I'm taking the liberty of answering on her behalf as she can't read or write.

So I take it people go missing a lot? A
friend of mineguy I know disappeared a while back, actually, but no clue if you ever took him down. His name's Richie. Uh, you might've known him by a different name, but...Do you know if the missing people ever come back?Anyway, I'm Static, and I'm living in a garage near Autopia. I was kinda hoping to keep that from being common knowledge, though. Sorry, there's someone here from my hometown who's kinda bad news.
Thanks,
Static

Date: 2007-10-19 02:01 pm (UTC)Yeah, it happens ... more than any of us would like. Usually without warning. I only know of one occasion where it happened with witnesses -- who were unfortunately asleep at the time, but it's the closest thing we got. They went to sleep with their friend in the same room, and when they woke up, he was gone. It's creepy, frankly.
Thanks for the info. Is that person you mention someone more of us should be worried about?

Then, he sent an anonymous letter to Cayce, as there was no reason Duzell should know this unless he was a pet kitten. Or something.
One Sara Mudou appears to have gone missing.

Gone missing? What did that mean? Well, it made her nervous, and the fact that, when she looked over the signatures on the board, she didn't see Raphael's made her more nervous.
So she sent a letter to Cayce:
Ms. Pollard,
A friend of mine, Raphael (no last name), was here to greet me when I arrived, but I haven't seen him since. Do people regularly go missing here?

I'm afraid so. It's not predictable and there's no noticeable pattern, and no warning at all. I hope your friend turns up.

I must say I think this is a very considerate sort of operation you're undertaking, Miss Pollard. Have you been keeping these records long?
Private mail to Control
Date: 2007-10-19 02:05 pm (UTC)In answer to your question on the board, I've been keeping these records for -- about eight or nine sheets of paper. Probably an equivalent number of months, but as you may have noticed, keeping time here is kind of weird.
If you'd like to look at the list anytime, let me know.
