Closed RP; getting the rings~

It seemed weddings in this world were a lot more complicated than ones in Celes. Back there, weddings had simply been a matter of the richer of the couple paying for the other one and taking her (or him) back to their home. There hadn't been a lavish ceremony.

Not that Fay was complaining, of course. He liked the idea of a fancy celebration to signal the beginning of a marriage, and was greatly looking forward to his. He had badgered Sirius with details about weddings, and had learned this: they required one officiate (Mickey, most likely, as he seemed to be in charge of everything here), the couple (Fay and Kurogane, obviously), a maid of honour (Sakura), a best man (Sirius, though Kurogane hadn't been informed yet), a flower girl (Chii), and a few others Fay hadn't decided on yet and was probably just going to post on the bulletin board for.

A wedding also required an exchange of rings, which was a new concept to the mage. Luckily, Disneyland had a place where such things were available, and so the mage and his ninja were making their way to the Jewel of Orleans, which wasn't really all that far from the cafe. Fay had his hand in Kurogane's and was leaning his head on the other's shoulder, smiling contentedly. "Are you excited, Kuro-wan?" he asked.

"Hn." Kurogane smirked some, leaning forward to kiss Fay suddenly, hand never leaving his hair. It was relatively short, for them, and by the time he pulled back something had shifted in his expression and he was flat-out grinning. "That one, I like."

Fay was grinning in kind, though there was something softer in his eyes. "I like it when you smile," he said, fingers reaching forward softly to touch Kurogane's lips. "Kuro-ai," he added.

"I'll have to do it more for you," Kurogane said quietly, kissing his fingers. Well, they were right there. He slipped his arms around Fay and pulled him closer for a second, closing his eyes. "I love you," he said because he could say it.

Longer than a second, if Fay was going to have anything to do with it. He wrapped his arms around Kurogane in return and snuggled against him. "I love you too," he said quietly, and he wondered if he had ever meant anything as much in his whole life.

They could stand here for a while, despite having come for a reason; the rings weren't going anywhere, after all, even if somebody took them. One hand was still in Fay's hair, stroking gently, while the other held him there (as if he needed encouragement), fingers splayed over his back.

It was incredibly comfortable, like this. Fay closed his eyes and leant a little of his weight against Kurogane, shifting his hands a little into a better position.

They stood like that for a good deal of time, actually before moving, and Kurogane started to pull back with a sigh, though he shifted to be able to keep an arm around Fay's waist. "Come on," he reminded both of them. "We're supposed to be looking."

"Aww," Fay said in a voice that could have been a whine had he been bothered to make it so and not too busy with putting his arm around Kurogane's waist in return and leaning against him. "All right," he said, and rested his cheek on Kurogane's shoulder.

Kurogane turned his head anyway to kiss Fay's hair, smiling some. "No whining," he reprimanded, though it hadn't exactly been a whine, and then put his attention back to the job at hand and started lookig at the rings again. Something gold, and simple, but...

"Can I whinge?" Fay asked, turning his face further towards Kurogane while casting his eyes over the rings. Let's see, what would Kuro-pon like...?

"You really want to right now?" Now, why would Fay want to whinge? They were picking out their wedding rings.

"Not particularly," Fay relented. "Just wondered if I'm allowed to whinge generally."

"If you really need to," Kurogane allowed. "But I'll whinge back."

Fay turned to him an ':o' expression. "I've never heard you whinge." He was rather curious.

"Well, I'll complain about you whinging," Kurogane hastily corrected. Really, that meant he'd growl like an annoyed puppy and try to distract Fay from whinging, aka cheer him up. But he didn't have to say that, really.

"Never heard you complain, either," the mage said, still looking at his ninja. "I've heard you grumble, but not complain. What does it sound like?"

"That's about as much as I complain." It was no good to bitch about things you had no control over, after all, and if you had any control over it, best to save your breath and work toward improving things, if you were that discontent. He raised his eyebrows at Fay, at that question. "Dunno. It sounds like complaining."

"Yes, but it's Kuro-complaining, so it'd sound different to other complaining," Fay reasoned. He smiled and added, "But I don't want you to have a reason to complain. My Kuro-koi should be as happy as he can be~!" With that, he turned back to the rings. He'd narrowed it down to five, and was trying to decide which one to present to Kurogane.

Kurogane was looking over the rings out of the corner of his eye as they talked, and it was amazing how well he could judge them just by that. He'd already come up with several ideas and discarded them for one reason or another. Grudgingly, he finally slipped his arm from around Fay's waist and went to look at the other displays, searching intently.

Fay pouted a little, but didn't make a fuss - for if Kurogane was away, he could pick the rings up and see them from all sides, which helped narrow his choice from that selection down to two. He slipped those into his pockets and wandered over to another display, though they weren't quite as nice.

Kurogane's method of searching was simple: look around until he saw the one ring that he knew he would want to give to his husband. It was easy to say, but it was also about as time consuming and mildly frustrating as closely examining the rings was. Kurogane gave everything in a display a cursory, looked a little more closely at the few that caught his eye at all, then scowled, shook his head, and moved on.

Until he saw one, and grinned again, and the sound of shattering glass filled the store again; he reached in and immediately grabbed one specific ring, looking it over once before nodding in satisfaction and slipping it into his pocket, turning back to his fiance. Unless he somehow spotted one better, which he doubted, that was his done.

Fay, on the other hand, simply looked for the ones that were nice, slipped them into his pocket, and when Kurogane wasn't looking took them all out and compared them, throwing the ones that failed his test onto the floor (they would be cleaned up, presumably). He had narrowed down to two again when the glass broke, hiding the rings as he turned to look at Kurogane curiously.

"Kuro-tan looks like a doggy who got all the sausages," Fay noted.

"Do not," Kurogane argued, but was still grinning so it didn't really work. He was way too pleased for that. "Need me to wait outside?" Fay was wanting to be secretive, obviously, and Kurogane was willing to wait until he finished.

"Do too," Fay insisted. He blushed a little and nodded. "If you don't mind? I'll only be a few minutes..."

"I wouldn't have offered if I minded," Kurogane said. He gave Fay a smirk, heading for the door. "Take your time." It was nice out, and he was pleased, and tense in a good way thinking about what exactly they were preparing for, and he could use the time to breathe, to relax, and think.
