Closed RP; getting the rings~

It seemed weddings in this world were a lot more complicated than ones in Celes. Back there, weddings had simply been a matter of the richer of the couple paying for the other one and taking her (or him) back to their home. There hadn't been a lavish ceremony.

Not that Fay was complaining, of course. He liked the idea of a fancy celebration to signal the beginning of a marriage, and was greatly looking forward to his. He had badgered Sirius with details about weddings, and had learned this: they required one officiate (Mickey, most likely, as he seemed to be in charge of everything here), the couple (Fay and Kurogane, obviously), a maid of honour (Sakura), a best man (Sirius, though Kurogane hadn't been informed yet), a flower girl (Chii), and a few others Fay hadn't decided on yet and was probably just going to post on the bulletin board for.

A wedding also required an exchange of rings, which was a new concept to the mage. Luckily, Disneyland had a place where such things were available, and so the mage and his ninja were making their way to the Jewel of Orleans, which wasn't really all that far from the cafe. Fay had his hand in Kurogane's and was leaning his head on the other's shoulder, smiling contentedly. "Are you excited, Kuro-wan?" he asked.

Whereas weddings in Nihon held just as much ceremony, but the ceremonies were far different. Kurogane didn't think much as to whether he preferred one way or the other, since they would undoubtedly go through both (Tomoyo would never let them get away without performing the ceremony for them again), though he did think the process in Nihon involved far less people, and was therefore way more convenient. Why did they need someone throwing flowers? Not that he minded if the girl wanted to, but...

Rings weren't something he was used to, but exchanges of gift was a common gesture, so with an inward shrug he let the mage make plans for their search. Kurogane squeezed Fay's hand, glancing over. "Yeah. I am." More than he might have thought, even. "It's still gonna be a while, though," he reminded him.

"I know," Fay replied. "But, still..." He smiled softly and gave Kurogane a grateful look, one the other man had been receiving a lot lately. "I didn't think I'd ever even fall in love, let alone have it be requited." He paused and leant up to give Kurogane a quick kiss on the cheek before continuing.

Sometimes, Fay really did seem very young.

"I guess I know what you mean," Kurogane admitted. "I didn't think... For a long time, I was only interested in getting stronger. I didn't even think about falling in love."

Tomoyo sent me off to find you, he thought, and for once, the memory of Tomoyo sending him away didn't make him feel angry or hurt at all. He didn't mind that change.

Not all that surprising, really, all things considered...

"Why would you need to get stronger?" Fay said. "You're the strongest person ever." He placed his other hand on Kurogane's arm and stroked the muscles under his sleeves lightly. "My strong ninja-wanko~."

In a more serious voice, the mage said quietly, "I did. And I hoped I wouldn't." Because knowing my luck, they'd be the one I'd have to kill. And Fay couldn't kill Kurogane, he simply wouldn't be able to.

"At first, it was..." Kurogane sighed, but he didn't mind talking about it with Fay, really, and Fay deserved to know things. He wanted to tell Fay things, which was unusual. "I wanted to become stronger so I could protect the people I cared about," he said quietly. "But... I lost sight of that, I think. I was just trying to get stronger for the sake of getting stronger."

Kurogane looked at him, then, as they stopped outside the jewelery store. "You hoped you wouldn't fall in love?" he echoed.

Fay still stroked Kurogane's arm as he talked, attempting to be soothing. "But you've got people to protect now," he pointed out quietly. "Sakura-chan and Syaoran-kun and Mokona and," the barest hint of a pause, "me." He still had a little trouble with the concept that he was worth protecting.

The mage didn't look at Kurogane, instead staring at the floor. "Yeah," he admitted. "I didn't want to hurt them." He gave Kurogane a weak smile, and added, "I was brought up to believe I was a bad omen, Kuro-rin."

"Yeah. I do." And Chii, now. He had a family, and that really meant a lot. "And I'll protect you." By any means necessary, though he felt it wouldn't be wise to say that.

"Whoever told you that were morons," Kurogane said seriously. He looked down at Fay's smile, then tugged him forward, wrapping his arms around him. "You're not a bad omen," he said quietly, "and you're not bad luck."

Fay fondly murmured, "So strong and stubborn," and squeezed Kurogane's hand. "Just don't get hurt, 'kay? Mommy won't be happy if Daddy gets hurt!" The tone was light and joking, though the words themselves were quite serious.

The mage closed his eyes and hugged Kurogane in return. He could feel his heart beating. "I'm glad you think so, Kuro-sama," Fay said, "I really am."

"I don't have any intention of getting hurt," Kurogane said. He was telling the truth. After all, he wanted to protect, but part of that he knew meant keeping himself alive. And why wouldn't he want to keep safe so that he could go back to them, to Fay? He smirked, then. "You're stuck with me."

"I don't think it," Kurogane corrected. "I know it. If you were bad luck, don't you think something would have happened? You've helped."

"Don't say 'stuck with'," Fay chided, "that makes it sound like I don't want to be. And I do want to be with you." He kissed Kurogane's cheek again, softer this time.

He was quiet for a while, wondering what to tell Kurogane and what to keep quiet about for now. "... I'm glad you feel that way," he settled on eventually. "I'm glad you're safe."

"Good." Kurogane turned his head to brush his lips with Fay's, lightly, before the magician could pull back. "You'd better."

He looked at Fay seriously then, meeting his eyes evenly. "I do and I am," he agreed, voice low. "We'll be fine. All of us."

"I do~," Fay replied, taking advantage of Kurogane's proximity to kiss him properly on the lips. "Very very much."

He smiled and reached for Kurogane's hand, threading their fingers together. "I believe it when you say it," he said.

"Then I'll keep saying it," Kurogane said decisively, squeezing his hand and leading him forward again. They had reached the jewelery store, so he pushed the door open with his free hand, actually holding it open for his fiance. He could, in fact, be something of a gentleman when he tried. Or at least polite.

Fay giggled and squeezed Kurogane's hand in return. "Then I'll keep believing it," he countered. He smiled as his fiance opened the door for him and gave a brief bobbing sort of bow before entering, looking around the shop.

"Sparkly," he commented.

"Good enough reason for me to keep saying it," Kurogane shot back dryly, smiling a bit. He snorted when Fay bowed to him, but didn't remark, letting the door close behind him and looking about himself.

"Find something you like," he instructed, not commenting on the sparkliness. Polite or not he still failed as a romantic.

Fay pouted. "Sirius-san said we're supposed to choose rings for each other," he said in a voice bordering on whining.

Kurogane winced a little. Fay could really pout, and he seemed intent on this. "Fine, then, find something you like for me," he allowed. He looked around, just a little more worried now. He'd have to pick something for Fay? Crap.

At that, the mage brightened considerably. "Okay!" he said cheerfully, and skipped off to a nice display of rings. "They all look so pretty~," he cooed.

"Sirius-san said married couples wear their rings on the third finger of their left hand," he said conversationally. "And after she's proposed to, the girl has an engagement ring on the third finger of her right hand. That gets moved over to the left hand when she's married. Eh, Kuro-chan, which of us is going to wear the engagement ring? Or should we both wear one?"

"We might as well both wear one, if either of us is going to." There was no question in Kurogane's voice that this was the best option; they were equal. "Are we going to take them off and give them to that 'ringbearer' before the ceremony, or what?"

"I don't know. Maybe we switch hands before the ceremony, or something. Or afterwards in the bathroom. I don't know, I'll have to ask Sirius-san." Sirius had become the expert on weddings, in Fay's mind.

"Ooh!" the blonde said, kneeling down and looking into a cabinet at a sparkly bracelet with what appeared to be the Mouse on it. "Shiny~."

Kurogane nodded at the explanation, content to leave it at that for now until they found out for sure. "That's not a ring," he pointed out, but added after, "If you want it, go ahead and take it. Not like it's possible to steal things here." He was surprised Fay hadn't picked up more trinkets than he had, actually. They'd been here a long time.

"I know," Fay replied cheerily. "It's just shiny." He smiled and stood up, looking at the rings again. "Nah. A bit gaudy. I prefer smaller things. Less showy and like they're making too much of an effort."

Kurogane made a mental note of that, nodding in agreement. "It'd be weird to be wearing something that sparkly all the time," he agreed.

Fay nodded. "And it's silver," he said. "Silver looks so cold." Yes, he was dropping hints by the forkload; Kuro-pii needed some help in matters like this.

Kurogane nodded again, but was a little surprised, honestly. "Would've thought you'd like silver." It seemed to fit in with white, and with blue, after all; Fay never seemed to have a problem with cold colors.
