Closed RP; getting the rings~

It seemed weddings in this world were a lot more complicated than ones in Celes. Back there, weddings had simply been a matter of the richer of the couple paying for the other one and taking her (or him) back to their home. There hadn't been a lavish ceremony.

Not that Fay was complaining, of course. He liked the idea of a fancy celebration to signal the beginning of a marriage, and was greatly looking forward to his. He had badgered Sirius with details about weddings, and had learned this: they required one officiate (Mickey, most likely, as he seemed to be in charge of everything here), the couple (Fay and Kurogane, obviously), a maid of honour (Sakura), a best man (Sirius, though Kurogane hadn't been informed yet), a flower girl (Chii), and a few others Fay hadn't decided on yet and was probably just going to post on the bulletin board for.

A wedding also required an exchange of rings, which was a new concept to the mage. Luckily, Disneyland had a place where such things were available, and so the mage and his ninja were making their way to the Jewel of Orleans, which wasn't really all that far from the cafe. Fay had his hand in Kurogane's and was leaning his head on the other's shoulder, smiling contentedly. "Are you excited, Kuro-wan?" he asked.

Ack. Kurogane wasn't actually dragged for long, though Fay could run fast; he could keep up, at least, running back to the cafe until Fay had slowed, then giving him a not quite exhasperated look, too amused to be exhasperated. "In a hurry?"

Fay wasn't breathless - he could run much farther than that, and much faster - though his face was slightly flushed. "I want to be officially engaged," he said brightly, and led the way inside. He then stood expectantly next to one of the tables.

Kurogane sighed, but didn't actually mind. At all. He stopped, reaching into his pocket and pulling out the ring, fingers curled and holding it in the palm of his hand so there was still no way to see it. For a moment, he just looked at the loose fist he had formed, as if he could see something startlingly meaningful in it.

Then he looked up, and walked forward, stepping up to Fay and reaching with his other hand to take the mage's. "Fay," he said quietly, and finally held up the ring so that the other could see it, offering, showing. It was thin and gold, delicate without looking fragile, with several tiny diamonds that made it catch the light. He held it there for a moment, then lifted Fay's hand, moving the ring as if about to slide it onto his finger, then pausing with it touching the tip of Fay's finger. He met his fiance's eyes. "Will you marry me?"

Fay's eyes rested on Kurogane's hand. He was eager to see the ring, definitely. It was almost ridiuculous how much he wanted this. He knew he was loved (something that could still knock him off-balance), but this would just show it was real to everyone else.

The ring was beautiful, definitely. Fay's face lit up at the sight of it, and he gave Kurogane a loving, touched look. You listened.

"Yes," he answered immediately. "Only you, Kuro-ai."

Kurogane had listened. He had always listened, and even more now that he knew he loved this man. His attention was always at least partially on Fay. Right now, it was fully on him. There was nothing else.

He sat in the chair there, then, pulling Fay into his lap and then finally sliding the ring onto his finger. He promptly kissed him, fingers curling around Fay's.

Fay couldn't decide between gazing at the ring or gazing at Kurogane, and his eyes kept flickering between the two. "I love you," he said softly.

"I love you too," Kurogane said back, voice just as soft. He kissed him again, then raised his hand to his lips, pressing the hand and the ring there, holding it for a moment before letting it drop.

Fay's eyes widened for a few moments, then softened and he smiled gently. "Do you want your ring?"

Kurogane nodded, squeezing his hand slightly. "Yeah," he said.

Fay reached into his pocket and after a bit of squirming dug the ring out and held it up for Kurogane to see. It was much thicker than Fay's, though also gold; it was very plainly decorated, with one small diamond and two smaller rubies on either side.

He reached for Kurogane's hand and held it against his fingertip, as the other man had before. "Will you marry me?" Fay asked softly.

Kurogane was looking down at the ring, at their hands, then looked up and met Fay's eyes. The look in his own was extremely serious.

"Yes," he said. "I will."

Fay's smile widened and he slid the ring onto Kurogane's finger. "Thank you," he said quietly.

"You don't have to thank me," he muttered, looking down once more to watch Fay slide the ring on. He tugged the magician closer after, just... holding him, there, for a while. This all still made him reel, sometimes.

"I want to," Fay half-protested. He entwined his fingers with Kurogane's, getting a little thrill from the contact with his ring, and rested his head on his ninja's shoulder. This was all so perfect; sometimes he was sure it wasn't real. At those times, he would say this to reassure himself:

"I love you."

"Then, thank you," Kurogane said back. He turned his face into Fay's hair, kissed it. "I love you, too."

And that was all the assurance Fay needed.

"You're more than welcome," he murmured. In a more hesitant voice, he added, "... Are you sure you should be thanking me?"

"Yes," Kurogane said immediately. "I'm sure. I want to," he said, a bit of a challenge in his voice.

Fay chuckled a little. "All right, all right," he said, lifting his head and running a hand through Kurogane's hair. "Stubborn," he said fondly.

"That's not a bad thing," Kurogane replied with a smirk. He kissed him, then, 'quickly,' except that none of their kisses were quick, and he'd come to expect that.

"No," Fay agreed. "If you weren't, you'd probably have given up chasing me..." He returned the kiss softly, the hand in Kurogane's hair moving to the back of his neck.

"No chance." Kurogane sounded completely sure of himself. Give up on Fay? No way in hell. But then, that was because he was stubborn. He raised a hand to Fay's cheek as they kissed, stroking with his thumb.

It was good Kurogane had been stubborn enough to keep chasing Fay, even if the blonde hadn't thought so at the time. He still wasn't sure if it was the best thing for Kurogane, but his objections grew weaker every day.

Besides, Kurogane was stubborn. Even if Fay ran away, he wouldn't be alone forever. Kurogane would find him, somehow.

The mage tilted his head into Kurogane's hand and deepened the kiss with a content little noise. He really loved this man...

Objecting to something like this just to keep Kurogane safe wasn't the best of ideas, anyway. He would make his own choices, and be damned with the consequences. He'd deal with them when they happened, but it was his choice to make, and therefore his responsibility. Yes, he was stubborn, and yes, he would follow Fay. He wasn't going to leave the mage alone. So it was good that he was finally giving into that.

Kurogane welcomed Fay to kiss deeper, kissing back harder, and pulling him close.

Far more stubborn than Fay, at any rate; though his willingness to give in probably had something to do with the fact he hadn't really wanted to resist in the first place. He wanted Kurogane to be safe, of course, but he also wanted to be loved by Kurogane, and be told he wasn't worthless or misfortune.

The mage made a happy noise and wriggled closer, into Kurogane's lap as much as he could. He had to pull back for air after a few moments, and he smiled and rested his forehead against Kurogane's. "We're getting married," he said simply.

"Yeah," Kurogane agreed. "We are." He stroked his hand over Fay's back, content.
