Valentine's Day

It was Valentine's Day. It was Valentine's Day, and Lily was in the park now. Sure, James still had to win her over so she probably wasn't going to get him anything or do anything for him, but it was a great chance to win her over.

If Lily opened her door when there was a knock, she'd find a long trail of lilies leading towards the dress shop in the castle, where a green dress in Lily's size was on a mannequin.

James snuck up behind her, wishing now more than ever he had his cloak of invisibility with him. "Do you like it?"

Lily whirled to face him. "I..." she said slowly, conflicted. She coughed and took a deep breath, and said politely, "It's nice."

James grinned. "How about you get changed? I'll take you out to lunch or something?"

Lily crossed her arms over her chest. "Do you really think I'm that easy to win over, James Potter?" she demanded.

"Not at all," he said, smiling. "It's just lunch."

Lily sighed. "And flowers, and a dress, and..." She was torn between wanting to tell James to bloody sod off already and wanting to accept his offer. He was being strangely sweet -- maybe he had changed. But he also still persisting in harrassing her, so he couldn't have changed that much.

"I keep telling you I'm not interested! But you never get it! Who do you think you are, doing all these... really nice things... for me?"

"I think I'm a really nice guy?" James asked, shooting her his most charming smile. "Come now, spending lunch with me in a new dress is hardly going to kill you."

Lily rolled her eyes. "I think you're an egotistical prat!" she told him. Looking annoyed, apparently unaffected by the charming smile, Lily said, "Fine, I'll go. But it's not a date, and if you call it one just once, I'm leaving."

James smiled. "Great. Go get changed!"

Lily shot him a glare before, hesitantly taking the dress off the mannequinn. "Where did you get this, anyway?" she muttered.

"I made it," James said, shooting her a smile. "So if it fits weirdly in any places, tell me."

"You made it?" said Lily suspiciously. "Sure. So where should I change?"

"Anywhere you want," James said. "I won't look, I promise."

"Out," said Lily, pointing to the door and stamping a foot. "I mean it, James. Get out."

"Okay!" James said, holding up his hands and heading towards the door. He muttered something that vaguely sounded like she was overreacting and it wasn't like he had never seen her naked before, but he headed towards the moat without raising a fuss. Then he transfigured his outfit into something less 'I slept in this the night before I ended up in Disneyland' and more 'I won't look all that weird standing beside Lily in her dress.'

Lily seethed when she heard him muttering. Really. The nerve! She had half a mind to tell him to bloody well forget it, she didn't need to put up with him being a pervert on top of all this other weirdness.

When she finally emerged, Lily blinked at James in surprise. "You... changed your clothes?" she said archly. "Out here?"

"Yeah, why not?" he grinned. "It wasn't that hard. I didn't even need to take them off."

"What are you, some kind of wi--" Blush. "Oh. Right."

Lily shook her head. "Let's get this overwith. And James?"

James laughed, and offered Lily his arm, biting back mentioning how cute she looked. "Yes?"

Lily pointedly did not take James's arm. "Where did you want to go?" she asked him, almost suspiciously. "Nowhere too fancy, right?" There was a frown. "Well, nowhere too low-key, either -- I'd be underdressed."

James pouted a little, and then dropped his arm. "I'm fine with wherever. There's all sorts of restaurants about. Or, if you'd rather, we could go into one of the ones with no people and make ourselves some food."

"Making ourselves food sounds fun," said Lily, smiling. "Which ones are unoccupied, though?"

"No clue," James said. "We can just pick one and hope we pick right." He smiled. "Any you want to go to?"

Lily shook her head slowly. "Just as long as it's somewhere cute," she said. "And clean, of course." But hopefully that wouldn't be a problem.

"Everywhere is clean here, as far as I've seen." Cute, huh? "I don't know if I could find anywhere that could measure up to your cuteness." He... didn't actually know of anywhere. "We could probably try Critter County."
