Valentine's Day

It was Valentine's Day. It was Valentine's Day, and Lily was in the park now. Sure, James still had to win her over so she probably wasn't going to get him anything or do anything for him, but it was a great chance to win her over.

If Lily opened her door when there was a knock, she'd find a long trail of lilies leading towards the dress shop in the castle, where a green dress in Lily's size was on a mannequin.

"No clue," James said. "We can just pick one and hope we pick right." He smiled. "Any you want to go to?"

Lily shook her head slowly. "Just as long as it's somewhere cute," she said. "And clean, of course." But hopefully that wouldn't be a problem.

"Everywhere is clean here, as far as I've seen." Cute, huh? "I don't know if I could find anywhere that could measure up to your cuteness." He... didn't actually know of anywhere. "We could probably try Critter County."

"Watch it," Lily snappped when he started talking about her cuteness. "This isn't a date, remember? But Critter Country sounds nice..."

"What, we need to be on a date for me to compliment you?" James asked, putting on his Innocent Face. He started heading towards said County.

"Considering it's you?" said Lily flatly, making a Not Convinced Face in response. "Yes. Yes, I would say we do!"

"You're so cruel," James sighed, heading towards Critter County. Then he paused. "Do you want to just Disapparate there?" he asked, offering his arm again.

Lily looked hesitant, like she was considering blowing him a raspberry, but then she smiled and said, "Sure." There was a loud pop as Lily, without taking James's arm, Apparated to Critter Country on her own.

James sighed. How was he going to find her now? He disapparated, and could only hope that he ended up somewhere in Critter County near Lily.

Lily turned to see James a few feet behind her. "So where to?" she asked him brightly, smiling. It seemed like an ordinary cheerful smile -- but just maybe there was something devious about it.

James felt rather relieved that he found her. "I don't know, I haven't really come to this area of the park much. We can go looking for a restaurant."

"All right," Lily said, looking once in each direction. "Where do we start?"

"I'm not sure. Along this street, I guess," he said, beginning to walk and looking both ways as he did so.

Lily pointed to a restaurant slightly ahead of them. "How about there?" she said.

Hungry Bear... He couldn't help thinking that this would be a good place to bring Harry, but for a first date it wasn't really the most romantic place. Still, he couldn't complain.

"Did you want to cook something, or should I help?" Lily's cooking might not be the greatest to most, but it was to James.

Of course, Lily would have left in a hurry if she'd known James considered this a date.

With what she did know, though, Lily just smiled at James's offer to help. It was unlike him in a good way, she thought. The James Potter she was used to was so lazy...

"You can help!" she said, almost eagerly, wanting to encourage this new helpful streak.

James groaned, but was smiling. "Aw, Lil'. You know it'll be better if you do it," he teased. He headed inside and held the door open for her.

Lily countered, smiling too, "I don't know that! I've never seen you cook." Not that she had high hopes for James's culinary ability. "Besides, it's only fair."
