Fay’s whistle isn’t a particularly beautiful one. It sounds almost inhuman; some kind of tune mortals could never have invented, shrill and sweet and at the same time quite deep. Kurogane and Syaoran look around almost with panic as the blue globe forms around them.
“Mokona, move us to the next dimension,” Fay says calmly. He knows they’re safe inside the sphere, although for how long he isn’t sure. Best to move quickly.
“But, my magic…” Mokona protests. The poor thing looks so dejected!
Fay looks at the ceiling of the dome he’s constructed around them. Nothing can reach them here. “It should be fine inside here,” he says, with that ever-present smile.
Mokona’s wings open and the little white creature opens its mouth. “I can summon my magic!” it squeals.
Fay feels that now-familiar sensation of changing worlds. Light wrapping around him, that feeling of coming undone, being pulled into the passageway, the no-place between…
Hyuu~, Kuro-pii and Syaoran-kun look so suspicious!
He closes his bright blue eyes and lets himself drift. Mokona knows where they’re going.
So Fay is rather surprised when he’s deposited on the ground alone. He opens his eyes and looks around, almost panicking, definitely worried. He frowns.
“Mokona?” he calls. “Kuro-rin? Sakura-chan? Syaoran-kun?”
They’re not here. That’s odd. They’ve only been separated once before, back in Shara. He smirks at the memories of the battle camps of Yama. Aah, Kuro-tan had to admit my company wasn’t so bad! We couldn’t understand each other verbally, but still…
Fay purses his lips and scratches his head. Hmm. This is a puzzler. What could have happened? Has he landed in a different world to the others? No, definitely not. The whole idea is that they travel together. They’re probably close by, he just can’t see them. Everything will be alright.
He stretches and stands up. Fay D. Flourite: blonde hair that had probably been styled once but has long since forgotten what that style was, sapphire blue eyes, pale skin, wearing a brown suit complete with bowtie. Long limbed and slim, regarding everything with a faint smile, and possessing a fairly… well, effeminate air. (Let’s face it: it’s a wonder his hand hasn’t dropped off yet considering how limp his wrist is.)
He notices Mickey and waves cheerfully. “Konnichiwa!” Fay says brightly. “I don’t suppose you’ve seen three people and a white creature pass this way? A young girl with brown hair and green eyes, a young boy with darker hair and amber eyes, and a tall grumpy-looking man with black hair and red eyes? Answers to the name of ‘Kurogane’, reward if you find him!”
Mickey coughs theatrically. "'What is your name?'"
There’s a brief moment of puzzlement, but the smile is never far away. “Fay D. Flourite,” Fay answers. “What’s yours, Mouse-sama?”
"What is your quest?" asks the Cat. It's perched, suddenly, on the roof of one of the gate-stiles.
Fay glances at the Cat and doesn’t appear to see anything out of the ordinary. After all, Fay has seen many creatures, both in his home world of Celes and travelling with his friends.
“I’m writing a novel,” Fay answers without hesitation. It’s a useful lie. Clever Syaoran-kun for thinking of it! “It’s about legends and myths. Has anything strange happened here, recently or in the past?”
Fay might be on his own, but that doesn’t mean he can’t look for Sakura-chan’s feathers. That’ll be a nice surprise for his friends: all panicked about losing their Fay-san, bursting in (Kurogane with his sword, hyuu~), and seeing the wizard smiling calmly and holding the feather. Hopefully in new clothes. Fay’s beginning to get tired of this suit.
"'What is the average w..?'" Mickey frowns down at the notebook. "You know, I don't really see why that's important." He flips a page. "'If you could be granted three wishes, what would they be?'"
Fay chuckles. “Oh, I understand. You ask all the questions, ne?” He pouts playfully. “I hope you’ll return the favour, Mouse-sama and Cat-sama!”
Wishes, eh? Ha, where to begin? He has so many. None he’ll admit to, of course – they’re mostly regarding his past, and if he makes them he’ll have to explain why, and there’s a story he doesn’t want to recount.
“No wishes for me!” he concludes cheerily. “I have everything I want! Besides,” he adds, looking a little more serious (but still smiling), “wishes don’t come for free.” If they did, Dimensional Witch-san would be out of business.
"Or," the Cat says, examining its tail with interest, "if you were a genie and someone you were trying to give three wishes to was trying to trick you into giving him more, what would you say?"
“I can’t do magic,” Fay answers simply. He laces his hands together and stretches again. It’s easier than saying he can and then having to explain why he won’t.
Mickey looks rather nonplused at the next, but reads, "'When the revolution comes, what skills will you be able to barter for food?'"
“Well,” Fay says, finger on his chin in thought, “Fay-san owned a café once. And Fay-san can be very useful when you need him to be. And of course,” a face-splitting grin, “I’m excellent company.” Make of that what you will.
The Cat rolls its eyes in a friendly (and rather disconcertingly out-of-sync) way, and asks, "Milk, dark, or white chocolate?"
Fay claps his hands together gleefully. “Chocolate!” he giggles. “Oh, milk! Or hot chocolate! Does hot chocolate count? Then again, dark chocolate is best for baking… Oh, this question’s too hard!”
"'Choose the two coolest: robots, pirates, fairies, bears, ninjas, monkeys, vampires, or humans,'" says Mickey, giggling a bit as he goes through the list. "'Explain.'"
“NINJAS!” Fay squeals. “Because Kuro-pon is one and ninjas are so cool and Kuro-rin is so grea~t.” He pauses and blushes slightly. “Ninjas. And I’m not sure about the other. Fairies?” He winks and stands with his hand on his hip. “You can guess why.”
"Great!" Mickey flips through the blank pages of the notebook at top, cartoon-y speed. "Well, I think that's just about it! Oh, and I'm supposed to ask, 'for your safety: are you carrying anything sharp?'"
“Ne! I’m hurt.” Again with the pout, as if Fay’s the most innocent person in the world and has just been accused unjustly of something really quite terrible. “Mouse-sama, you’re so mean to me! I’d never carry anything sharp! That’s what Kurogane’s for.”
Which is when Fay turns away, cups his hands around his mouth, and shouts, as loud as he can, “KURO-PUU, WHERE ARE YOU?”
((Thegay magician Fay D. Flourite, of CLAMP’s Tsubasa RESEVoir CHRoNICLES. Taken right after the end of chapitre 106, if anyone’s interested. Before the whole business in Tokyo. This is manga!Fay, not anime!Fay who looks different in practically every single shot. And hyuu~ is the noise Fay makes instead of whistling, as whistling for him means he performs magic. But apparently it’s not the kind of magic he usually uses, so that makes it okay. *doubts Fay’s logic herself*))

"Ahh...it's okay, I guess," Setsuna says, rethinking things. Was Fay trying to be friends? And here he was getting upset. But...but.... Gah! "Just umm, why are you being so familiar so soon? Is that just how you are?"

Date: 2006-11-10 10:38 pm (UTC)Fay's smile returns and he grins at Setsuna. "See? I told you. I'm not faking at all!" Liar.
The wizard doesn't really answers, not properly, just keeps smiling. "I suppose. I like people." Besides, better he make the first move, set the boundaries, than they decide what the relationship will be. People have a terrible habit of trying to understand the 'real' Fay D. Flourite. Fay wants to know what's wrong with the Fay D. Flourite see. He's certainly a lot happier.

Date: 2006-11-10 10:57 pm (UTC)Setsuna frowns a bit as he points out, "I said we'll see. It might very well be. You could just be a liar." Setsuna couldn't help himself, after all, Kira was a lot like that. A liar. A faker. And he still meant so much to Setsuna.
The thing with Setsuna is, he tends to like a person for what they are, find their good qualities, no matter how many bad ones there are. He doesn't care for a fake show, no matter how happy it is. He of course, plans to deal with Fay like he would anyway one else. "Heh. And you like to avoid answering questions? Nothing wrong with liking people, but that kind of tactic isn't necessarily going to work on me. I deal with people like you a lot."

And it's as easy as that for Fay. If the boy doesn't want him to lie, Fay isn't going to answer.

Date: 2006-11-11 02:22 pm (UTC)Now would be a good time for Mokona to arrive, he reflects, probably jumping on Setsuna's head. But alas, the white creature isn't here. Drat.

Date: 2006-11-12 08:54 pm (UTC)Of course, no Mokona showed up, but that was probably for the best. Mokona would have just added to Setsuna's confusion and upset, whereas he was starting to calm down now.
"And, hopefully, we won't run into each other too much. All the same, try to enjoy your stay here." For some reason, he didn't like the idea of this guy faking happiness and not really having a chance to feel it.

Date: 2006-11-13 11:30 am (UTC)This boy is so truthful. Fay envies that. Mudou-kun just speaks his mind, and doesn't edit the words because of tact. Fay has to make sure everything he says fits in with the image he's created. Inside, he sighs. Sometimes his life can be such a bother.
"I'm sure I will," Fay answers with a smile that seems sincere. "Sayonara!"
