Back home to Uriel
Nov. 17th, 2006 09:54 pmAfter her experience with Katou, Doll was quite content to return to Uriel's house-tree in Critter Country. Still wet, hair heavy with water and her dress torn, Doll entered and gladly took a seat on the floor. All of that, and she had almost nothing to show for the day.
What was she to tell him?
"Uriel-sama, I've returned. I hope the tea I left here for you earlier was sufficient." She hadn't a chance to check it for taste before leaving again. "I'll try to get a teapot again tomorrow. Today was a bit...busy."

Date: 2006-11-17 09:59 pm (UTC)It was only with a great effort that he managed to keep himself calm, telling himself that any amount of rage now wouldn't reach whoever had caused this to happen to his precious little Doll but would only cause her more trouble. "What happened, Doll?" he asked, worried. "How did you get into such a state?"

Date: 2006-11-17 10:42 pm (UTC)"Well...." How did she even go about explaining this properly? Doll tried to think back to the very thing that started it all, and remembered, oh yeah, that cake! Smiling, she told Uriel, "Katou was nice to me the other day, so I baked him a cake to thank him. He started saying bad things about it, though, so I pushed it in his face. Then he started throwing cake back at me and we had a cake fight."
Tone still cheerful, she continued; "Somewhere in there my dress got torn. Then we went down to the lake to clean off, and we had to wash our clothes. Since I didn't have anything extra to wear, I just wore my dress back home. You don't mind, do you? I'll need to find something to fix the tear," she fingered it absently while speaking of it.

"It's not as warm at night aroud here and you are wet." Doll couldn't get a cold, being, well, doll -- or at least so Uriel definitely hoped. However, he wasn't entirely sure whether she could feeld coldness.

Date: 2006-11-17 11:01 pm (UTC)"I guess we got on. I washed his hair, and he washed mine for me. But he's awful at it," Doll insisted, frowning a bit.
Once asked about whether or not she was cold, she shrugged a bit, then shook her hair. The place didn't feel any different than usual, she just felt...very wet. And when she walked it seemed as though she was sloshing about. "I don't seem cold, but being wet is uncomfortable."

Date: 2006-11-17 11:05 pm (UTC)A thought entered his mind. "Wait here for a moment, okay?" he said, heading towards the door. "I'll be back in just a moment."
He returned after a little more than a moment but hopefully still soon enough. In his arms he was carrying a variety of towels, one of them even bearing a picture of Tinkerbell. "These should help you get dry," he commented.

Date: 2006-11-17 11:56 pm (UTC)Beaming, she undid her dress and stepped out of it -- getting dried off while wearing a wet dress would hardly work, after all.
"How cute! A fairy," Doll pointed out as she took the Tinkerbell towel first. She took another to try to wrap her hair in, but had trouble getting it to twist up. The long, curly strands simply fought back and unraveled everything, so Doll gave up and.
Sitting on the floor, one towel being rubbed through her hair one section at a time, the other towel loosely wrapped around her (slipping off), Doll battled on with the water and fabric.

"You don't have to worry about finding something with which to fix your dress," he said, starting to form something out of the wall. "I'll just make you a new one. What would you like it to be like?" He started to weave a fabric out of the plant fibres, making sure to make it as soft as he only could manage.

Date: 2006-11-19 09:49 pm (UTC)But...a new dress?
"I like the one you gave me, so I would like anything you made for me. But perhaps something with pink? And more frills, or layers? Something a bit more girlie?" Doll asked, unsure if that was pratical for chores or not. But Katou had said (implied, really) she didn't look enough like a girl, so naturally, Doll wanted to fix that.
"And Uriel-sama," there was a slight moment of hesitation, as though she wasn't sure she wanted to ask, "why would Katou say I don't look enough like a girl?"

Date: 2006-11-19 10:02 pm (UTC)"Pink and frilly, you say? Let's see..." He modified the fabric a bit further, reshaping into something Doll might like. "Would this (http://kss.mysticalaura.com/galleries/gallery/a5.jpg) be all right?" he asked then, showing the dress to Doll.
"Katou said that?" he asked then, blinking. "I really have no idea why he would say that. In my opinion," he said, still having a rare smile on his face, "you look like a very wonderful girl."

Date: 2006-11-19 10:46 pm (UTC)"That's absolutely perfect. Thank-you, Uriel-sama! I will gladly wear the dress you've made for me. When I'm dry again, of course," Doll told him, even as she started to rub herself down, and tried her hair once more.
Normally she liked her hair, but at this current moment, it was a pain.

Date: 2006-11-19 10:53 pm (UTC)After a moment of watching her struggling with her hair, he asked, "Would you like me to help you dry your hair?"
no subject
Date: 2006-11-19 11:04 pm (UTC)"Of course, Uriel-sama! I would appreciate it." And she would bet anything in the world Uriel could be so much more gentle with her hair than Katou. Uriel could do everything better than Katou, she was positive about that.

Date: 2006-11-19 11:08 pm (UTC)However, as he did not know what Doll was thinking, he merely took one of the towels he had brought for her and started drying her hair, careful not to pull at it. He didn't want Doll to get hurt, after all.

Date: 2006-11-19 11:28 pm (UTC)But, she reminded herself, of course Uriel knew how to treat a girl. He was so much more refined than Katou, and smarter, and wiser, and kinder and everything better, better.... So, why then, was Katou the one she kept talking and thinking about? Because he sucks so much I can't help but need to complain about him, Doll told herself.
Yeah, that's it. Sure.

Date: 2006-11-19 11:33 pm (UTC)It could be just that, of course. As the two people most important to him were Doll and Katou, of course he would pay more attention to anything being said about the two.

Date: 2006-11-19 11:43 pm (UTC)There was no way she was talking so much about Katou without a good reason. How could she not? "Besides, he's so rude, he's earned my constant complaints," she had to insist, fiddling with the towel wrapped around her body.

Date: 2006-11-21 06:24 am (UTC)"Well, he can be that, occasionally," Uriel then admitted, the rational part of his mind taking over the fatherly pride part. "However, I doubt anybody could earn your constant complaints no matter what they did." He didn't mean it, of course he didn't. However, it was kind of fun to tease Doll.

Date: 2006-11-27 06:35 pm (UTC)Doll nodded when asked about the number of people. "I've just spent so much time looking for a teapot, and the only people that were there when I arrived were Kira, Katou and you, Uriel-sama."
When he said all she was capable of complaints, Doll, insulted, turned to Uriel with wide eyes of disbelief. "Uriel-sama! How can you say that when for you I have nothing but praise to say. You are simply incredible for making me, and generous to provide for me. And I have nothing bad to say about Kira" - thus far - "it's simply that Katou is so mean to me! And rude!"
no subject
Date: 2006-11-27 10:34 pm (UTC)At her comments about Katou, he almost-smiled. "And noisy. And smelly, probably. And he never knows when to stop. And, worst of all, he always complains about people when they aren't listening."

Date: 2006-11-27 10:45 pm (UTC)"Yes! And he's loud, and obnoxious. And oh, he's so bossy!" Doll confided in Uriel. "He told me to clean, and kept ordering me around as though I was HIS personal servant. But I'm not! I'm yours! Only Uriel-sama's. What is he going to do next? Tell me what to cook for him? And what to wear?"

Date: 2006-11-27 11:01 pm (UTC)"Katou told you to clean?" he echoed. "Pray tell who caused the mess?" Knowing the two, it could be either of them -- or, possibly, both.
He then petted the girl's still wet hair. "Oh, yes. You are my lovely little Doll."

Date: 2006-11-27 11:06 pm (UTC)At having her head patted, Doll beamed at Uriel. Had she been a kitten, she would have purred, content.

Date: 2006-12-01 12:46 am (UTC)"Well, if you participated in making a mess, you should help to clean it, even if it is his house," Uriel pointed out. "After all, if Katou came here and messed every place, you would expect him to clean up after himself, right?"
He absently continued patting her head, hardly even noticing he was still doing it.

Date: 2006-12-01 02:12 am (UTC)All the while whining, "But Katou helped make the mess too, so he should have offered to help instead of just ordering me around to clean it up." Granted, her voice was starting to calm with Uriel's patting.
"And yes, I hit him in the face with the cake. I went through all of that trouble to make it for him, and he insulted it," she explained with a pout. How could he be so cruel? It took ages to make that stupid thing.

Date: 2006-12-04 09:51 am (UTC)"I'm sure a cake in the face only did him good."

Date: 2006-12-04 01:57 pm (UTC)"Yes, he deserved it."
[I'm sorry to be annoying, but Pegasus put up a letter for Uriel in the comm. Did you see it or was it missed? Did you need time to respond? Did you already do this and I was unaware?]

Date: 2006-12-08 11:21 am (UTC)"Are you about dry now?" he then asked, still working on her hair with a towel. It wasn't perhaps completely dry yet, but at least she wouldn't cause a fog by shacking her head now.
((You're not annoying by any means, just a welcome reminder I should stop worrying so much about how to respond and get it over with...))

Date: 2006-12-08 09:23 pm (UTC)"Yes, Uriel-sama! So I can try on the dress you made for me," Doll said cheerfully, pulling the towels off. Naturally, it wasn't long before she was in it, smiling prettily and asking, "How does it look? Girlie?"
Some part of her should have asked why she even cared if Katou found her girlie or not....
[[Okay. Still sorry. I hope you didn't feel rushed or anything.]]
