After her experience with Katou, Doll was quite content to return to Uriel's house-tree in Critter Country. Still wet, hair heavy with water and her dress torn, Doll entered and gladly took a seat on the floor. All of that, and she had almost nothing to show for the day.

What was she to tell him?

"Uriel-sama, I've returned. I hope the tea I left here for you earlier was sufficient." She hadn't a chance to check it for taste before leaving again. "I'll try to get a teapot again tomorrow. Today was a bit...busy."

"It is quite okay, Doll. Busy how?" Uriel turned to look at the Doll, his intention to ask her whether anything interesting had happened. Her appearance, however, proved that something had indeed happened.

It was only with a great effort that he managed to keep himself calm, telling himself that any amount of rage now wouldn't reach whoever had caused this to happen to his precious little Doll but would only cause her more trouble. "What happened, Doll?" he asked, worried. "How did you get into such a state?"

Katou? Well, that explained quite a lot. However, the story still surprised him. "You and Katou are getting along? Well, that is wonderful." No, he had not forgotten her mentions about Katou saying bad things or a cake fight. However, Doll was smiling and seemed quite cheerful despite being wet. If the two had truly hated each other as much as before, she would have most probably been enraged at Katou -- and Uriel doubted she would have come home in even as good a state as she was in now.

However, now was not the time to ponder such things, as there were more pressing matters at hand. "Are you cold?" he asked, worried. "It's not as warm at night aroud here and you are wet." Doll couldn't get a cold, being, well, doll -- or at least so Uriel definitely hoped. However, he wasn't entirely sure whether she could feeld coldness.

"Well, it is good that you aren't cold, but you really should get dry," Uriel mused. Gabriel could of course get rid of the water easily, while Raphael could probably use a breeze to dry it. Even Michael might be able to dry it -- provided he didn't set poor Doll on fire in the process -- but Uriel himself, well, he had no powers that could help him dry Doll.

A thought entered his mind. "Wait here for a moment, okay?" he said, heading towards the door. "I'll be back in just a moment."

He returned after a little more than a moment but hopefully still soon enough. In his arms he was carrying a variety of towels, one of them even bearing a picture of Tinkerbell. "These should help you get dry," he commented.

Most people would probably have found it strange to see a young girl readily taking her dress off in front of a grown man. Uriel, however, saw nothing strange with this. He had shaped Doll's body himself, after all, and restarting her body required taking her clothes off. The absence of Doll's dress was thus nothing new to him.

While Doll tried to get herself dry, Uriel settled his hand on the wall. "You don't have to worry about finding something with which to fix your dress," he said, starting to form something out of the wall. "I'll just make you a new one. What would you like it to be like?" He started to weave a fabric out of the plant fibres, making sure to make it as soft as he only could manage.

Uriel smiled a bit. "Oh, it's nothing," he said, and meant it. After all, this was Doll.

"Pink and frilly, you say? Let's see..." He modified the fabric a bit further, reshaping into something Doll might like. "Would this (http://kss.mysticalaura.com/galleries/gallery/a5.jpg) be all right?" he asked then, showing the dress to Doll.

"Katou said that?" he asked then, blinking. "I really have no idea why he would say that. In my opinion," he said, still having a rare smile on his face, "you look like a very wonderful girl."

Doll liked it, so it was good. Uriel nodded. "Of course. It would make no sense to wear a dry dress just to make it wet again," he said.

After a moment of watching her struggling with her hair, he asked, "Would you like me to help you dry your hair?"

Had Uriel known what Doll was thinking, he would not have known what to think, himself. A part of him would have wanted to jump in Katou's defense -- of course his son could do everything perfectly! -- but another, more rational part of him knew that Katou was usually not the gentlest of people. And not very nice, either, most of the time.

However, as he did not know what Doll was thinking, he merely took one of the towels he had brought for her and started drying her hair, careful not to pull at it. He didn't want Doll to get hurt, after all.

"I am, am I?" Uriel raised his eyebrows. "Well, thank you, I guess." He then cocked his head to the side. "You know," he said, "you've been talking about Katou quite a lot lately." She had, too, and not just today (when it was quite understandable). "Is there any reason for your interest or am I just paying more attention to any comments about him?"

It could be just that, of course. As the two people most important to him were Doll and Katou, of course he would pay more attention to anything being said about the two.

"You mean you have only managed to meet three people, aside from me, during your stay in the park?" asked Uriel, raising his eyebrows. "That is almost impressive, you know." Even he, the eternal loner, had met more people.

"Well, he can be that, occasionally," Uriel then admitted, the rational part of his mind taking over the fatherly pride part. "However, I doubt anybody could earn your constant complaints no matter what they did." He didn't mean it, of course he didn't. However, it was kind of fun to tease Doll.

"I never said you complain to everyone! I just meant you always complain about Katou. And if I do provide for you, there is no generosity in that -- I am responsible for you, having made you."

At her comments about Katou, he almost-smiled. "And noisy. And smelly, probably. And he never knows when to stop. And, worst of all, he always complains about people when they aren't listening."

Uriel half-smiled at Doll's stubborn ignoring of the little jab at herself. Well, never let it be said that he was purposefully mean to her, so he didn't remind her of it.

"Katou told you to clean?" he echoed. "Pray tell who caused the mess?" Knowing the two, it could be either of them -- or, possibly, both.

He then petted the girl's still wet hair. "Oh, yes. You are my lovely little Doll."

Uriel blinked. "You hit Katou in the face with a cake?" he asked, just to confirm it. "That must have been... something of a sight." He half-wishes he could have seen it. Only half, however -- Katou would probably then associate him with the humiliation, and that's the last thing he wants.

"Well, if you participated in making a mess, you should help to clean it, even if it is his house," Uriel pointed out. "After all, if Katou came here and messed every place, you would expect him to clean up after himself, right?"

He absently continued patting her head, hardly even noticing he was still doing it.

"Look, Katou's not always the nicest of people. ...In fact, I doubt he ever is the nicest of people. But he has his good points, too, if only you could try to see them before starting to fight with him." He suspected she had seen something good in Katou, or she wouldn't have made the cake in the first place. Unfortunately, this point seemed to have been lost, later.

"I'm sure a cake in the face only did him good."

Uriel smiled faintly. Doll truly had a one-track mind when it came to Katou.

"Are you about dry now?" he then asked, still working on her hair with a towel. It wasn't perhaps completely dry yet, but at least she wouldn't cause a fog by shacking her head now.

((You're not annoying by any means, just a welcome reminder I should stop worrying so much about how to respond and get it over with...))

"You look lovely as usual, Doll," Uriel replied sincerely. "The dress suits you even if I do say so myself."
