The loading area and deck in front of It's a Small World had been transformed. Two large tables had been set up, one bearing the music equipment that Cayce had lugged over from Tomorrowland, the other marked out for food and drink. Another food table was set up at the shop.

Various other places in the vicinity had been marked out as well: a wide space for a dance floor; another wide space with a sign RESERVED FOR STARBUCK posted; a grassy area marked RESERVED FOR M. BEAUFORT; and the loading area was marked RESERVED FOR KIRA AND SETSUNA. Over the walk up to the ride, Cayce had hung a large hand-lettered banner that read:

IT'S A SMALL UNIVERSE (ALL OF THEM)

She'd raided every shop in the park for decorations, and pillars and eaves were festooned with Disneyfied representations of various cultures; there was some Mulan merchandise here, a few items ganked from the Indiana Jones Adventure there. Cayce herself felt, somewhat ruefully, that she wasn't capable of being much more than a representation of early 21st-century urban America, so she wore the dress Crowley had given her. Anyone who was expecting her to do a reprise of the bikini business would be sadly disappointed.

After Cayce felt that a critical mass of crowd had been achieved, she went to the music system and turned on the microphone.

"Hi there, everyone. It's good to see you here, and thanks for playing along with my silly party idea. It's kind of a squishy liberal American thing to say—see, I'm representing my culture now—but can I just say that it's great to see the diversity here, and to see everyone taking pride in where they come from. So, thanks. Especially to Psyche, for letting us tromp all over her home and for keeping the music under control; to Crowley as always for the booze; and to everyone who brought something to share." She started to put the mic down, then remembered: "Oh, and thank you to Kira and Setsuna, who will be starting a limbo contest shortly." She grinned. "So if you think you're up for it, see how low you can go." A self-deprecating laugh at the cheesiness of what she'd just said. "Thanks again for coming, and have fun."

((Party time! Talk amongst yourselves, hassle Cayce, get drunk and ride through It's a Small World (not recommended), and otherwise have fun. Feel free to set your post before or after Cayce's little speech.))

((ETA: Here's the limbo thread!))

Rukia had taken it upon herself to create the banner, given that Orihime had prepared the sushi, sewn the kimonos and was searching diligently for sake. Of course, Rukia was also trying to divide her time between watching the booth and watching Orihime.

Japan's booth had green tea and sushi spread out over the table, as well as a book on Japanese history, and sheets with hirigana, kanji and romanized Japanese translators on them. Rukia's katana was also prominently displayed with a sign saying PLEASE DON'T TOUCH.

The banner itself was quite a sight -- "JAPAN" was written in large red letters, and below that, two teddy bear-rabbit things (http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w106/Konchan/rukia25.jpg) were drinking tea and wearing kimonos. It was a rather stereotyped portrayal, Rukia knew, but it was something the others would understand, and even Rukia's understanding of modern Japanese culture was limited. Below it hung a second banner -- one made to look like the national Japanese flag.

Kyouya approached the Japan booth, dutifully wearing the yukata Orihime had sewn for him. He raised an eyebrow at Rukia's 'drawings,' but didn't comment.

"It looks good," he told her, instead.

"Thanks," said Rukia, with a slight nod. She wasn't sure if she'd expected him to say that or not. "I know it's lacking, but it's the best I could do with what's here in the park. Well, actually, Orihime did most of it."

She looked him over. "Yellow suits you," she added.

"You're looking very lovely today yourself," Kyouya replied politely, and added, "I'm aware how difficult it is to set up here. The two of you did well." He picked up a cup of tea and took an appreciative sip of it.

Rukia gave him a polite, "Thank you." but she smiled wryly when he sipped the tea. "How is it?" she asked, although she knew what answer she expected.

"Have you been to many of the other booths yet?"

"Considering what she had to work with, I think it's quite acceptable," Kyouya replied. "And yes, I've been following a few. It's interesting, the work some have put into their own. And of course, there are many countries and cultures I'm unfamiliar with."

"Really? Which ones?" Rukia asked curiously. She thought about asking him what an attorney was, but decided not to. She didn't want to make her naivety about human culture totally obvious even if he did know her true nature. "I haven't been outside Japan much, except on ... business, and that doesn't usually entail getting to look around very much."

"Let's see. Ankh-Morpork I don't believe is on earth. I'm not familiar with Starbuck's game or much of what Daniel is doing either, and I believe the dinosaur culture goes without saying." He smiled. "But it is interesting to see even the ones I do know. I'm fairly versed on French and German culture, of course, but it's still interesting. Have you had a look around?" Because he was in a good mood, having stolen a large stock of alcohol for future use, he added "I'd be happy to explain anything you aren't familiar with. I travel a lot for business as well, but my brand of business usually involves knowing the local customs fairly well."
