The loading area and deck in front of It's a Small World had been transformed. Two large tables had been set up, one bearing the music equipment that Cayce had lugged over from Tomorrowland, the other marked out for food and drink. Another food table was set up at the shop.

Various other places in the vicinity had been marked out as well: a wide space for a dance floor; another wide space with a sign RESERVED FOR STARBUCK posted; a grassy area marked RESERVED FOR M. BEAUFORT; and the loading area was marked RESERVED FOR KIRA AND SETSUNA. Over the walk up to the ride, Cayce had hung a large hand-lettered banner that read:

IT'S A SMALL UNIVERSE (ALL OF THEM)

She'd raided every shop in the park for decorations, and pillars and eaves were festooned with Disneyfied representations of various cultures; there was some Mulan merchandise here, a few items ganked from the Indiana Jones Adventure there. Cayce herself felt, somewhat ruefully, that she wasn't capable of being much more than a representation of early 21st-century urban America, so she wore the dress Crowley had given her. Anyone who was expecting her to do a reprise of the bikini business would be sadly disappointed.

~

After Cayce felt that a critical mass of crowd had been achieved, she went to the music system and turned on the microphone.

"Hi there, everyone. It's good to see you here, and thanks for playing along with my silly party idea. It's kind of a squishy liberal American thing to say—see, I'm representing my culture now—but can I just say that it's great to see the diversity here, and to see everyone taking pride in where they come from. So, thanks. Especially to Psyche, for letting us tromp all over her home and for keeping the music under control; to Crowley as always for the booze; and to everyone who brought something to share." She started to put the mic down, then remembered: "Oh, and thank you to Kira and Setsuna, who will be starting a limbo contest shortly." She grinned. "So if you think you're up for it, see how low you can go." A self-deprecating laugh at the cheesiness of what she'd just said. "Thanks again for coming, and have fun."

((Party time! Talk amongst yourselves, hassle Cayce, get drunk and ride through It's a Small World (not recommended), and otherwise have fun. Feel free to set your post before or after Cayce's little speech.))

((ETA: Here's the limbo thread!))

Crowley smirked. "That's why I prefer it." He'd been to his fair share of shithole pubs, though, and drunk the cider.

The demon rolled his eyes as Aziraphale approached. What had he told Cayce about tea and tweed? "Go right ahead, Tink. Fuck, all we need now is Adam to drop by and it'll be like Guy Fawkes all over again."

Speak of the... um, yeah.

"Hallo, Crowley," said Adam cheerfully. "Hallo, Mr. Fell." He looked curiously at Jenny and then glanced at the table, his gaze lingering on the beer selection.

((Reposting to keep things tidy))

"Oh, most certainly. There's plenty for all. Very kind of you, dear lady." He struggled with the tray a moment and somehow managed to set it down without knocking over the beers, collapsing the table or upending the teapot.

After mopping his face with a handkerchief for a moment, he then found a suitable place behind the table to tack up the Union Jack. "There we are..." Satisfied, he turned and bobbed a slight bow to Jenny. "I see you have met my associate, but I don't believe I've had the pleasure before. Ezra Fell at your service. ...Er. Hello, Adam."

Jenny glanced at Adam when he arrived, but looked mildly surprised when the name Crowley was mentioned. He had struck her as a bit of a flash bastard, but she hadn't realized she was talking to the flash bastard of the park. She raised an eyebrow, but didn't comment. Instead, she held out a beer to Adam, expertly popping the top with her fingers. "Have one, mate. Not half as bad as I keep saying, and supply is limited after all."

"We haven't met, actually, just exchanging pleasantries," Jenny said of Crowley when Aziraphale asked. "It's Jenny Sparks," she added to Fell and Adam as well, taking out her cigarette long enough to grab a scone and some jam. "Pleased to meet you."

"NO!" shouted Crowley, snatching the drink out of Adam's hand. "No," he repeated at a more normal volume, "he... doesn't want one." It'd take a minute of the panic to die down before he made the connection of Jenny Sparks to the woman he'd once corresponded with.

Adam just looked amused at his antics. "Hullo, Jenny. Nice to meet you. What part of England are you from?"

Jenny raised an eyebrow at Crowley, and said to Adam "An' here I thought his flashness was letting us plebs have a drink today. You know, I've fried men for less than stealing my beer." Well, all right, she'd never done that to anyone who couldn't handle it, but it was well known to her fellow superheroes that Jenny's alcohol was off limits. If she were Adam, Crowley would be getting punched about now.

"London," she told Adam. "You?"

"He's jus' a bit protective," Adam grinned at her. "Knew me since I was a baby an' everythin'. Works for my da' you know, so I guess he feels like he's gotta keep an eye on me." He winked cheekily at the demon. "I shoulda guessed London. I'm from Lower Tadfield in Oxfordshire. But I wouldn't be surprised if you never heard of it." Mostly because it didn't exist in any other universe than his own.

For his part, Crowley had crossed his arms over his chest and was frowning at the kid feeling vaguely embarrassed, or would if he recognized the feeling.

"I think the lad's about old enough to have a beer," she said to Crowley, with an amused smile. "Nah, don't think I've been there, unless I was drunk. Been just about all over England, but don't remember nearly half of it."

((Hey, weird question that I've been wondering about for some reason. If Adam is omnipotent, does he know he's fictional? Is he aware this is an rpg? Is he watching us right now?))

Una, wearing her green 1920s-style Biba (http://www.vintagefashionguild.org/forums/viewthread.php?tid=42938) frock, approached what appeared to be the English contingent with a grin on her face. She waved in greeting, but didn't interrupt the conversation.

Adam greeted her. "Hullo, Una." They hadn't spoken really since she arrived, but omnipotence tends to help one's memory for names. "That's a nice dress. Would you like a warm beer or a scone?"

Ah, yes, the friendly neighbourhood Antichrist. "Hello, Adam. Thank you." She laughed. "I suppose I'll have a scone. If we've got to have food to represent the sceptr'd isle, at least it's the palatable sort and not, say, boiled beef."

Nodding at Aziraphale to indicate who'd brought them, Adam made up a small plate with a scone, Devonshire cream and jam, and handed it to Una. "Best be glad for small favours," he grinned.

"I'm certainly grateful for every one that I get. And thank you," she said, accepting the plate with a smile. "How have you been keeping?"

"Oh, I stay pretty even, me," the young man smiled. "An' you?"

From: [identity profile] una-harlequin.livejournal.com
I'm sure you do. Aloud she said, "Up and down, but on the whole, it could all be worse. Still, I think some of us are getting a trifle fractious, not having any adventures to go on or battles to fight. Or missing what battles there are, due to luck or circumstance. Whether that luck is good or ill depends on how one looks at it."

Adam rubbed the back of his neck self-consciously. "Well, there'll be adventures an' whatnot soon enough. Should give everybody somethin' to do..."

Aziraphale had been going out of his way to avoid attracting Adam's attention of late, which was why he hadn't greeted Una himself (that and he'd been quietly laughing at Crowley--not that he disagreed that a drunk Antichrist would be a Very Bad Thing, but really, it wasn't as though Adam couldn't have obtained the stuff and gone on a reality-breaking bender long before now, if he planned to.) But catching that last remark, he couldn't help but sidle a bit closer hoping to hear more. Vague as it was, it was the closest thing to real information that had been forthcoming from the boy yet.

She gave him a curious, searching look. "You seem rather sure of that. Something up your sleeve?" It was said lightly enough to be a joke.

"That's what you think," he muttered, horrifying images of a drunk antichrist changing reality all willy nilly still crowding his mind. Disneyland was fucked up enough already, thanks.

"Sounds like an interestin' time," Adam replied.

((Yup. Creepy, huh? XD))

"Can't hold your liquor, hmm?" she asked Adam. "And no, not really. Traveled all of England over a long period of time, mostly when I was in the army. But a lot of it was during the time of my life when I was trying to keep things less interesting than they rightly should have been. Anyway, it's a good country and I'll always think of it as home even if the government isn't too pleased about it, but too many bloody beautiful rolling hills for me."

((Oh shit!))

Date: 2008-07-29 06:15 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] average-adam.livejournal.com
"Never tried," said Adam. "I can understand wantin' things to be less interestin', but you c'n never have too many beautiful rollin' green hills."

((Hey, you linked to Jenny's backstory comic once and now I can't find it again. :p Do you still have that link?))

"Maybe for some. To many of them and I start going a bit funny; guess I get tired of things that always stay the same and aren't ever horrible after a while." She shrugged. "There's a friend of mine who can't survive outside cities. Commiserate a bit there, really."

((Sure do! (http://community.livejournal.com/scans_daily/5238001.html#cutid1) But fyi, Jenny has a later whole mini-series about her backstory that I can't find online and that often contradicts this one. Since the one linked is written by the original author I tend to go with it more than the first, but both stories have huge gaps where it's implied she just gets depressed and drinks for about a decade. In conclusion, I make a lot of stuff up.))

The young man quite liked things that stayed the same and never went horrible. It was sort of his entire purpose in life, he felt. But he smiled politely. "To each his or her own, I guess."

((Thanks!))

Jenny's purpose in life was a lot different than Adam's, even if there were a few similarities. Things went horrible around her a lot, but whenever she tried for peaceful, it just got worse. Involving herself in big things was the only way she could think of to help.

"I guess so. Does your nanny let you smoke?" she added, lighting a cigarette for herself.

Nothing dared go horrible around him. It was kind of funny, really. Well, from his perspective.

"I dun't think he'd have a problem with that," Adam said, glancing at Crowley, "but I'll pass jus' the same, thanks. Think I'll wander around a bit an' see what everyone else is doin'. Glad you're representin' England, though."
