Closed RP, exploring New Orleans Square
Nov. 16th, 2006 08:20 pmAfter his placement in New Orleans Square and introduction to the others, Fay wasn't exactly sure what to do. Everyone moved off to their respective lands, current homes, or on whatever quest Fay's arrival had distracted them from, saying things like, "Hope to see you again," and, "Good luck with the cafe." The wizard stood uncertainly at the gates, hands clasped in front, looking far more vulnerable than he was comfortable with.
Then he spotted Crowley and with a grin skipped over to him. "Konnichiwa again," Fay said. "I was wondering if you knew where the French Market in New Orleans Square is, or where to get clothes and supplies and things. Could you show me?"
He asked innocently, rather like a child on their first day of school. And rather like a child, he didn't know what he would do if he was turned down. Fay liked spending time with people, because then he wasn't, technically, alone.

Date: 2006-11-17 06:02 pm (UTC)The demon had been arriving in new places, alone, for the better part of six thousand years. It was just the way things were and it didn't bother him. He was either always lost or never, depending on one's perspective. Still, he couldn't explain, nor did he want to. In fact, he just wanted this over as quickly as possible, so he waved an arm indicating the shops around them.
"Main Street. Clothing, souvenirs, food, first aid, stuffy people."

Date: 2006-11-17 08:57 pm (UTC)Fay was absolutely delighted with Crowley-san explaining about Main Street. The blonde hadn't been expecting a tour, had mainly wanted company to his new home. But a tour was good. A tour meant company for longer, and Fay so hated being on his own.
"What kind of clothes? Would any of them fit me, do you think? They don't have to be men's clothes, most women's clothes are fine. My only real problem is my height. People this tall aren't usually this thin." Fay just didn't eat much. He very rarely got hungry.
"Where do the stuffy people live?" He could visit them with cake to try and stop them being stuffy. Which would give him and excuse to talk to someone.

Date: 2006-11-17 10:04 pm (UTC)Crowley turned his head to look at him, not slowing his quick pace down the street. "How the fuck should I know where they live? You think I hang out with stuffy people?" Apart from Aziraphale, that is...

Date: 2006-11-18 02:43 pm (UTC)Fay giggled and held his hands up. "Eh, Crowley-san, no need to explode! But you seem to be someone who knows things, so I asked. I didn't mean anything by it." A bright, innocent smile.
Fay wondered if Crowley was any relation of Yuuko's (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yuuko_Ichihara).

Date: 2006-11-19 07:45 pm (UTC)Fay could fight. He just didn't like to, preferring to dodge and jump. Fighting, for him, was the very very last option.
"If that was Crowley-san's normal way of speaking," Fay mused aloud, giving the impression he was speaking to himself, "I wonder what he calls the way he spoke to Fell-san. Because that actually seemed to be pleasant. Maybe Crowley-san is close to Fell-san. They're lucky," Fay concluded. "It's nice to have your friends around you."

Date: 2006-11-19 07:55 pm (UTC)"That's the point," he growled. And, not wanting to hear any complaints about his neglecting to give pertinent information he said, just as briefly as before, "Adventureland. Tiki Room, Aladdin's Oasis, Jungle Cruise, Indiana Jones, and Tarzan's Treehouse." There were also a few shops, fresh fruit stands, and a place that did a passable kabob, but he didn't mention any of that. Crowley wasn't helpful.
"'Fell-san' has earned my respect," was all the demon would say on that subject, slightly disturbed by Fay's way of speaking to himself.

Date: 2006-11-19 08:02 pm (UTC)Then they turn into Adventureland, and the happy-go-lucky Fay was back. "Adventureland? Sounds great!" Fay clapped his hands and grinned. "Any ruins around?" Sakura-chan had the dresses, and now if Fay could find something for Syaoran-kun, he'd be all set for when the others arrived. (Kurogane would just get hugged.)
"Is that hard to do?" Fay put a long finger on his chin and looked up, as if the answers could be found there. "Maybe Fell-san saved your life or the life of someone important to you. Would I have to do that to earn your respect, Crowley-san? It might take a while. What if nothing life-threatening happens to you? What do I do then? Will I have to go without your respect for ever? That doesn't sound nice."

Date: 2006-11-19 08:32 pm (UTC)"There are ruins in the Indiana Jones ride. Ask Sallah."
He considered just what to say. "Yes. As it so happens, Fell did save my life on a couple of occasions. He's also very well read, knows a great deal on a wide variety of subjects, has good taste in wine, and knows when to shut up. If you want my good opinion, and frankly I'm not sure why you would, I suggest you try one of those."

Date: 2006-11-19 08:39 pm (UTC)"I will. Sallah-san. Any idea how I can ask them?" Fay was quite sure he didn't meet a Sallah during his arrival. But it wouldn't hurt to get to know more people.
"I like wine!" the mage said, grinning widely. "I prefer sake, but wine is good." As for the others... Syaoran-kun was the well-read one, not Fay, who couldn't make head nor tail of the majority of forms of writing they'd discovered in their travels. And Fay did know a lot, but it was doubtful Crowley would be interested in any of it, or that Fay would tell him if he was.
As for shutting up... that had pretty much been established by now. Fay could be quiet when he needed to be, but he liked talking to Crowley-san.

Date: 2006-11-19 09:01 pm (UTC)As they happened to be passing Tarzan's Treehouse at the time, Crowley pointed at it. "Sallah lives there. Or you can send him a letter."
He shook his head. "There's a difference between liking wine and understanding wine. Still, it doesn't matter as there is no wine or sake here."
Making another slight left, he added, "This is New Orleans Square. This first building is the Pirates of the Caribbean ride with the gallery up top and the Blue Bayou restaurant next door." Of course, all those places were occupied, but Crowley would be far more amused if Fay just barged in on Norrington, Fett, or Sunshine. He didn't mention his club. The entrance was discreet and no one could enter that he didn't want to enter anyway. "Then there's a row of shops, ending in the French Market restaurant," which he pointed out in the distance, "and the Haunted Mansion beyond."

Date: 2006-11-19 09:08 pm (UTC)Fay looked at Crowley out of the corner of his eye. "That's interesting," he said. "Cayce-san told me you were the one to see about alcohol. Is there really no sake or wine, Crowley-san, or are you just lying to me?" Fay was a little hurt at that, but not incredibly annoyed. Anger would just have been hypocritical.
"Ah, so my new home should be down there!" Fay smiled. "Where do you live, Crowley-san? And is there anywhere around here where I can get clothes that fit me, or bedding and things? Do these places," he indicated the buildings around him, "come with beds already?"

Date: 2006-11-21 06:36 pm (UTC)He looked at the row of shops. Waving a hand generally, he said, "I live over there." That was vague enough, right?
"And why the hell would a restaurant have a bed in it? You'll just have to look around and find what you need. There are some clothing shops in Frontierland. Maybe you'll find something that'll fit you over there. If not, you can just take a pile of clothes and sleep on them. Everyone else has managed on their own. You will, too."

Date: 2006-11-21 07:15 pm (UTC)Fay pointed in the direction of Crowley's wave. "Over there?" If Cayce hadn't already told him about Club 33, the magician would have pressed further. But it would be so much more fun to turn up out of the blue and surprise Crowley-san.
"I don't know. Maybe restaurants in this wor- country do have beds in. If we live here, why not?"
He smiled. "Ah, Frontierland. Domo arigatou. I think I shall go there after I've taken a look at the cafe."

Date: 2006-11-21 07:26 pm (UTC)He gave Fay a blank look, wondering how much of the stupid was real and how much was an act. "We live in a place that was never designed to be lived in. Concessions need to be made." Well, by other people, certainly. Crowley was quite comfortable in his rich suite of rooms.
"All right, so you know where you're going. If you need more help... look at a map."

Date: 2006-11-21 07:32 pm (UTC)He smiled. "Ah, I see. So whoever dropped us here wasn't very considerate about sleeping. Oh well! I'll survive!"
The wizard saluted, although it was quite messy and any officer would have given him a sharp lecture about the proper way to. It was really just Fay lifting his hand to his head. "Haii," he said. "Thank you again, Crowley-san. See you again soon!"

Date: 2006-11-21 07:47 pm (UTC)"Ciao," he said, turning to head back to Main Street. The demon was savvy enough to not lead Fay right to his own front door.

Date: 2006-11-21 08:11 pm (UTC)Fay stood swinging his arms for a moment, watching Crowley head back to Main Street. Ha. Clever. Either he was going to visit the 'stuffy people' or didn't want Fay to know where he lived. Fay rather liked Crowley-san. As far as the wizard could tell, there was no chance of getting close to him.
Then he went to check out the French Market. It was mostly outside, but the general feel of the place reminded him of Outo. After a brief exploration of the kitchens, he found he was expected to serve mostly meat dishes, but there was also flour and sugar and the majority of the other ingredients he needed to make cakes. (He also discovered a few useful hiding placed for Mokona.). No chocolate powder, though. He would just have to look for that.
Then he returned to the street and, after almost getting lost (by walking in a straight line) found a little stand with maps on. His walk to Frontierland wouldn't have taken half as long if he hadn't insisted on lingering to look at the sights.
After much exploration, Fay D. Flourite, Magician of Celes, returned to the cafe he had mentally re-named the Cat's Eyes, carrying some new clothes, a few towels he had decided to use as blankets, a couple of large pillows, and under one arm, a soft toy-thing he had named Fish-san. (http://i16.ebayimg.com/04/i/000/78/56/ff97_1_b.JPG) It was about the same size and fluffiness as Mokona.
It would have to do, for now.
