As annoyed as he had been about Katou’s attitude, Sam didn’t really feel like getting into another argument over it. Still, you didn’t tell a guy he was acting like an asshole over the radio so that everyone could hear and then not follow up, so he went out and sat at the foot of the Walt statue, as he had said he would.

With any luck the guy would accept an apology with minimal fuss. Sam wasn’t sorry, exactly, but he didn’t mind apologizing anyway, and the point had been made.

Katou wasn't angry, per se, but he was quite excited to fight, if not a little weirded out after his Run-in (http://community.livejournal.com/dizzy_land/269577.html?thread=15408649#t15408649) with Aphrodite.

"You the guy who called in?" asked Katou when he came upon the Walt statue.

“Yeah, I’m Sam.” He stood up and offered his hand. “Look man, I’m sorry I called you an asshole.”

Well, shit. Katou took his hand, argued back and forth about whether to punch him in the face anyway, and eventually sighed. "Don't be sorry. It's true, you know."

That surprised a laugh from Sam.

“Fair enough,” he said. “It got to me mostly because of that one girl who called in to apologize, and then Pippi. I mean, she’s a ten year old kid, you know?”

Katou shook his head. "Nope, I didn't know," he said. "Never met the kid. Either way though, kids shouldn't be exempt from being told their taste in music sucks. They still have time to improve it."

Sam looked decidedly unimpressed.

“Shame no one ever did that for you when you were a kid, huh?” Actually, he personally didn’t think Katou had bad taste in music. But that was sort-of the point.

Katou had to laugh at that. "Oh, trust me, they did," he said, grinning.

Actually, his father had a decidedly different taste in music than Katou did, but he didn't have any problems telling Katou what else he did wrong.

“Oh.” Sam took a moment with that. “And did you listen?”

"For a few years," he said, shrugging. "Anyway, she just hasn't been enlightened yet. Once she is, she'll stop listening to that ABBA crap."

“Or she’ll just ignore what other people say and keep listening to what she likes, like the rest of us,” Sam countered with a smile.

Katou shrugged. "Well, if she does that, at least I can say that I tried." He paused. "So, uh, I guess this means that I'm not going to kick your ass?"
