Somewhere in Toon Town - Dusk

Elle was bored again. She hadn't seen Spike in ages, so she decided she was going to go look for him.

She was unaware of any imminent threat that might be lurking, despite Cayce's recent warning about someone looking for her.

"What, you don't got the equitment running at the same time as a microwave, TV, toaster and hairdryer?" Katou asked, sounding as though he didn't believe her.

"I have no idea, I didn't check. Want me to?"

In horror movies, when the lights all went it, it was usually because there was a serial killer who cut the power and was going to, well, serial kill people.

Shit, he hoped Setsuna was okay.

Cayce rolled her eyes. "Ha. No. Seriously, would you mind checking to see that nothing's on fire inside? I'll go take a look out front and meet you at the front door."

"All right," Katou said. "But if it's a serial killer, give me a yell so I can get a head start."

"Naturally," Cayce said dryly, and made her way to the front of the building.

Where she was surprised to find all of Tomorrowland in darkness.

"Well fuck me," she said aloud, to no one in particular.

Katou gave the theatre a quick run through, extending his powers of aura senseage to make sure that there weren't any serial killers about, and then actually looking around for fires, before he headed back to the front door.

"Looks like it's at least all of Tomorrowland," Cayce said as Katou approached.

Katou frowned, spread his wings, and lept into the sky. He couldn't remember if Cayce actually knew he he had wings, but, well, she did now.

As Elle and Sylar had been fountained already, he didn't see any sparks. He did, however, see that the entire park was black. He lowered himself, and around five feet from the ground, he folded in his wings and fell to the Earth.

"It's the entire park," Katou said. "Fucking weird." Beat. "I wonder how many breakers you threw trying to set up your radio show."

At this point? Wings on people were almost yawn-worthy.

"The laptop's practically on its own power supply," she said, not very vehemently. "And if Shaun and Barbossa possibly shooting shit the last time there was a show," she was not going to ask whether there had actually been shooting, or merely threats of it; she didn't want to know, "didn't short out the park, I doubt anything coming out of that booth could." She looked up at one of the extinguished walkway lights. "Wonder if the park will fix it the way it always fixes everything."

Katou snickered. "Relax, Cayce, I was joking around."

He frowned, following her gaze. "Who knows. I'm half surprised that they even allowed this to happen for more than a second. Did you want me to walk you home or something?"

"Nah, 's okay." She held up the flashlight and passed the beam over the familiar, darkened features of Tomorrowland. "I'm going to take a quick walk over to Main Street and see if the lights are out there too.

The blackout had concerned Jenny, too. She'd had no idea if this was a regular thing or not, but not having sources of electricity around was a bit discomfiting, so she headed out into the darkness to have a look about. Once she saw a beam that looked like some kind of light, she began to walk towards it.

Only a flashlight, but it was better than nothing. And she recognized Katou from her arrival, and even if he hadn't had wings at the time, it wasn't that big a concern.

"Oi, you," she said, pointing at him. "Know why the power's out?"

Katou jerked his thumb toward Cayce. "This one here blew it out trying to put on a radio show," he said, grinning in a way that hopefully suggested that he was joking around.

He turned to Cayce. "I'm telling you, I didn't see any over there. If you don't trust me though..." he tried to look hurt.

Cayce rolled her eyes at the joke, but smirked. "Har." Then she gave Katou a puzzled look. "Didn't see any what?"

She pointed the flashlight in the direction of the voice (taking care to not shine it in the speaker's face). "Anyway, no idea what's causing this. Is it all over the park?"

"Everywhere," Jenny said certainly. She hadn't been all over the park, but in a place this small, she'd notice if there was any major power source nearby. "This sort of thing happen a lot? Might not have been anything, but I was certain a bit ago there was some sort of fight going down. But by the time I got out there, nothing."

"This is a new one by me," Cayce said. "A fight, huh? Where?"

"Not at all sure. Thought I heard some shouting in that direction about," she said, gesturing towards the moat, "bit after the lights went. Man and a woman. But could have just been a couple having it out; didn't see anything suspicious when I went to have a look." She sighed, took out her pack of cigarettes, and, picking one for herself, silently offered the pack to Katou and Cayce.

"The source of the outage wasn't over there, I don't think."

Some idea of what this was all about started picking at the back of Cayce's brain, but she couldn't put her finger on it. She murmured a polite "no thanks" to the offer of the cigarettes. "Wonder if one of the supers could have caused it somehow," she muttered, frowning, half to herself.

"Didn't see any light."

Katou frowned a little. "I should check to see if Virgil's okay," he muttered.

Shrugging, Jenny pocketed the cigarette carton, and lit her own cigarette. "How many supers do we have here?" she asked. "About? I've heard of Superboy and met Rose, but I haven't heard of either before, nor of any post humans from my own world."

"Well, there's those two, and then there's Elle; she can do things with electricity, and she's not too shy about showing it off. And then there's—" Cayce's jaw dropped, and, if there'd been any light, Katou and Jenny would have seen her go dead pale.

"Did—did you say there—that you heard a man and a woman yelling?"

"Yeah," Jenny replied, frowning. "Wasn't necessarily a physical fight, though, just exchanging words. Why, do you know something?" She could recognize that expression Cayce had.

"This ... could be bad." She took a step vaguely in the direction of the castle moat before remembering that such a move would be very, very stupid. At least without some kind of backup.

"There's a guy who's got it in for Elle, I think," Cayce said. "And since she does stuff with electricity, she might—oh shit. Oh shit. I hope she's okay."

Katou sighed, then rubbed the side of his head. "I guess if it wasn't Virgil, that's okay," he said.

Still, Cayce looked worried. And Katou had been itching for a fight. Maybe he could have one. "Want me to come with you?"

"Hold on. What sort of abilities does this bloke have, and why's he have it in for the girl?" Jenny asked, narrowing her eyes. She would certainly want to deal with anyone who was causing trouble, but she also knew enough not to go into a fight without knowing what she was up against. Not to mention that although she kept a pistol on her person as backup, she was not incredibly useful if there was no electricity to draw upon. She obviously wouldn't let a girl get hurt even if it was dangerous, but it would be good to know how much.

"Telekinesis. Freezing shit. He referred to her as an 'upgrade', which makes me think he can grab people's powers, and she thinks she knows him, and what she said backs that up." Cayce sighed, danced a little from one foot to the other out of nervousness. "We should check it out. Just in case something—"

Just then, with a flicker and a low hum that seemed to come from everywhere, the park lights came back on.

Cayce blinked.
