((Closed to Kira and Cayce))

Just another ordinary day: Cayce was on her way into the Honey I Shrunk the Audience theatre to cue up some music on the park radio. She was thinking something quiet: maybe some Cocteau Twins or Heidi Berry or something like that.

She wasn't expecting to run into Kira, Setsuna, Sara, or Katou, but she never objected to seeing any of them.

"Oh, hey Kira." She grinned, and more or less assumed that Kira was going off her generally elevated mood of the last couple of weeks. "Yeah. Finally back on speaking terms again."

[caycep]

The hug took her slightly by surprise, but she returned it anyway, and grinned. "Don't let him hear you say that," she said, joking. "It'd embarrass the hell out of him."

[caycep]

"Uh, no." She leaned back against the DJ table and tilted her head slightly at Kira. "Actually, I've never been sick here. I don't think anyone has."

[caycep]

She chuckled. "Something I found out early on is that women don't even have periods here. After having some really uncomfortable talks with all human female arrivals of childbearing age, I put one of these together." She pulled a copy of her pamphlet out of her back pocket. "Makes it simpler and less embarrassing for all of us. So yeah, far as I know, pregnancies don't progress either."

Something at the back of her neck told her that Kira was acting weird, but the penny hadn't dropped yet.

[caycep]

Blink.

Blink.

"Kira, what the hell are you talking about?"

[caycep]

Blink.

"Okay, I'm asking again: Kira, what the hell are you talking about? You mean you really think that—"

Blink. The penny finally dropped with a clank.

"What?"

[caycep]

Truth be told, Cayce looked a bit like a fish for a moment, her mouth hanging open and working awkwardly in silence. She made a sort of strangled noise and finally said, very slowly:

"I. Am not. Having. A baby. With ANYONE! Particularly not with Crowley!" She couldn't stop a slightly appalled look from crossing her face.

Cayce was caught somewhere dead in the middle between hilarity and anger.

"Kira," she said, laughing a little, even as her eyes sparked nastily. "I don't know about where you're from, what with the angels and shit, but where I come from? You need to have sex to get pregnant, and believe me, unless the park really pulled a number on me and wiped my memory to boot? I haven't had sex in the year-and-a-half or whatever the fuck it's been since I arrived here." She rubbed a hand over her face. "What kind of an industrial-strength springboard did you use to jump to that conclusion?"

[caycep]

"...huh." She blinked. "Maybe it's--" She was about to say from when he took me flying, but she broke off, unsure of what Kira knew. "Huh," she said again. "That's unexpected," she finished lamely.

[caycep]

Cayce waved her hands, flailing. "I am so very absolutely one hundred percent sure."

Had Crowley said that Kira knew? She couldn't remember. But he had mentioned Hogwarts, and Kira had ... "You were at that ... at Hogwarts. Before you came here, right?"

[caycep]

Cayce nodded. "Right. Your past, his future, or something like that, right?" She took a deep breath. "So. You ... you know, then."

She hoped it'd be really obvious what she meant.

[caycep]

"Since a couple of weeks ago. From the time we finally patched up our argument." She was going to leave Sam Winchester out of this for now. "He ... after he told me, he took me flying over the park. Carried me over. Maybe that was what ... I dunno, maybe something rubbed off on me. Not like I have any idea how that works, mind you."

[caycep]

"Weird." She decided, for now, to shrug it off; maybe ask Crowley about it later. Apart from making a demon think things that were patently wrong, whatever-it-was didn't seem to have any deleterious effects.

"He told me who he was. A bit about his life." She smiled. "Basically the stuff I can't really blame him for keeping to himself, since if he'd told me right away, it might've freaked me out a lot."

[caycep]

"Yeah. He said his job is ... how'd he put it? 'Messing people about'." She shoved her hands in her pockets. "He says he's never done it to me, not once. I believe him."

[caycep]

She laughed. "He probably would. But he means well." She leaned forward to meet him.

[caycep]

Cayce's eyebrows went straight up, and she started to giggle.

"You know what's funny?" she said. "I think I would. It would explain so much."

[caycep]

She put a finger to her lips. "Not a word, trust me."

[caycep]

"The wrath of Crowley is a terrible thing," she said. She grinned. "Yeah, I'm thinking this conversation is one he really doesn't need to know about."

[caycep]

"Yeah, the force of Crowley's ignoring is pretty profound." Which was sort of not a cheerful thought, except that at least all that was behind her now.

[caycep]

"Probably some Cocteau Twins. Stuff thankfully free of comprehensible lyrics and kind of soothing too. Anything you want to hear before you dash?"

[caycep]

Cayce laughed. "All right. I'll play it as an anonymous dedication to... oh, I'll think of something creative."
