[[Invitations here, party here. Backdated to yesterday.]]

Thankfully, the kid got over his slightly painful exchange with Katou rather quickly, especially in the face of a party and seeing everyone. He hadn't heard from Demyx, but the kid was holding out hope he'd show up anyway. Seeing the Starcade games on and going made the kid grin. The "DO NOT MAKE OUT HERE" sign on Cayce's office door only made him crack up. Fine, if he and Sara got caught making out anywhere else, and someone complained, he'd point out he wasn't making out in the office.

There were tables for refreshments on the upper level, along with tables for people to sit at with food and drink. He added some sodas he'd brought along to the refreshment table, then a couple of pizzas to another table, already feeling the giddy mood of celebrating for no reason enter his system.

His "duties" done, Setsuna went to the lower level and, instead of waiting by the door like a good host, the kid, impatiently, started to play one of the games.

In answer, a small flap just under the left side of Artoo’s dome popped open and two long bars with belts that ran around them popped out of the space. On the belts were printed letters and numbers and they were shiny with black ink.

“Weerp!” he said.

"Brooo?" Artoo answered, sounding confused.

"Think I can help you there," John said, pushing the door open and coming in. "See, he normally gets things across by the tone of the beeps and chirps, since he knows you can't understand him. So if he sounded happy about the friend coming, then they probably are. If not, then they aren't coming. And so on."

John's ability to understand Artoo was definitely on a young Luke Skywalker level; he sort of guessed and had an intuition about it. That was probably due to the fact that he'd had a similar friend on board Moya - the DRD that he had lovingly named 1812 (for Tchaikovsky's Overture).

John had brought a tray-like thing with some gears attached to the bottom. "I put this together from some ride parts to help you with the drink serving, little guy. Don't know if it'll work, though."

Artoo chirped a hello to John and then gave Setsuna an encouraging coo before trundling over to take a scan at John's tray construction.

"Woop woop wheeoo!" he said approvingly.

"Yeah, and I'm kind of used to droid-speak," he explained to Setsuna with a small smile. "Had it a little on Moya and then, you know, movies." At the praise for being handy, John shrugged humbly and waved it off. "Nah, just one more science geek with too much time on his hands and a tendency to tinker with stuff until it's semi-efficient." He'd done that with his module a lot, using bits of alien technology to upgrade the thing.

Well, that looked like an affirmative from Artoo. "Fantastic. Let's get you situated, then." He had actually constructed the thing from what he remembered of the tray Artoo had been fitted with on Jabba's sail barge during Return of the Jedi. If it worked out, the tray could clamp onto some gears inside the droid's dome, and the tray itself would sit stop his... head, for lack of a better way of putting it. He turned to Setsuna. "Yeah, that's exactly how it should work. Hopefully it will."

"Thbbt blurrt," Artoo observed. He could see how John's tray was supposed to fit, so he snapped open the necessary panels and turned so John could have the best angle.

"I think you might mean 'academics,' not geeks," John told Setsuna sagely. "Academics can be very, very boring... but don't tell Daniel I said that, or he'll pout about it."

The assembly for the tray only needed a little tweaking, so it was a win all things considered. He snapped and hooked in a few places, and pretty soon Artoo was good to go. "You look like a regular barkeep. The transformation is astounding." He gave the droid an "ok" sign.

Artoo made a cheeky clicking sound at John, and then held still while Setsuna set the glasses on the tray. When the boy had finished, Artoo moved slowly away to see if the tray would wobble. It didn't.

He turned a neat little circle and blipped a triumphant 'ta da!'

Artoo gave a whistle in the universal 'okay!' pitch, beeped a thank you, and went off in the direction of some people who had just arrived.
