It was night of the day of Chii's visit to Aziraphale, and the bedtime routine had been same as usual.

Chii was tucked into bed -- missing Mokona and patting the place he used to lay -- when she set up, folded her hands together just as Aziraphale had showed her, and began to pray.

"Dear Father God-san, and Jesus-san. Chii is here to talk to you, and to ask that you look after Mokona, who Chii misses very much. And Chii needs lots of help, but Chii is learning many things, and Chii is grateful for this. Thank-you very much, God and Jesus-san, for letting Chii be here.

"Amen."

With that, she made the sign of the cross and was finally ready to go to bed, even though she was a bit sad God and Jesus didn't talk back to her. Maybe they would talk to her later?

Fay paused on his way out the door to snuggle with Kurogane downstairs - another part of the routine - and gave Chii a curious look. "Chii?" he said as he returned to her bedside. "What was that?"

Fay's expression was slightly off; almost fearful. "Who was Chii praying too?" he asked, trying his best to appear casual.

... She'd got religion. Well. Fay just hoped there was nothing about twins. "Really? That's nice."

He tried to smile for her, but... well, Chii was Chii, and Chii was surprisingly perceptive about emotions. "How much about this religion do you know, Chii?" he asked, sitting down next to her on her bed. "Some religions... they don't say nice things, and make people do very, very silly things."

"That's good." Fay smiled and patted Chii's head. "But... a lot of religions say to treat some people well, and others not well. A lot of them don't like two men being in love, and say they shouldn't be treated well at all."

Ah, it was Fell-san who had told her. Fay wondered if a visit to the man would be all right. He wanted to know more about this religion, especially its opinion on homosexuality and twins.

"Good," Fay repeated. He smiled and stroked her hair, trying to tidy it again. "If this religion is good, and it makes Chii happy to believe in it, then she should. But remember you don't have to believe everything it says. Only the things that make sense to you and seem good to believe in. Okay?"

"Chii is very clever," Fay complimented, hugging Chii and nuzzling the top of her head. "And you have a very good heart." Fay knew his adopted daughter wasn't human, but honestly, what did that matter? The Chii in Celes hadn't been human either. Fay had been made to believe as a child that he wasn't human, but was 'misfortune made twins'. Chii had a good, kind heart, and she deserved to find her special someone.

Fay smiled and replied, "Thank you, Chii. I am glad you think so."

"And now bed." Fay stood up and waited for Chii to lie down, taking hold of her blankets to place over her when she did. "Goodnight, Chii. Sleep well."
