((FYI, the Katou/Setsuna fight happens after this to avoid inevitable absentees. And just because you didn't reply to the happy letter thread doesn't mean you can't come or still reply to it. XD; ))

Katou smiled as he gathered some chips and pop and the like from Disneyland and piled them into the Matterhorn ride. He had checked out the room that Sirius had decided upon earlier and all in all was quite pleased.

Upon deciding he had enough snacks and non-alcoholic drinks, he opened up a bottle of rootbeer, jumped into the ride, and headed up to the room to finish getting things ready and to wait for people to show up.

Sirius had spent the morning preparing his room for the party, and he thought it looked rather good. A few cleaning charms had brightened things up, and he'd conjured a few squishy red sofas and beanbag chairs surrounding a large table perfect for the game. On a whim, he'd also conjured some streamers and balloons, and another table for snacks and drinks.

When Katou entered, he grinned. "This all right, then?" He started picking up the food and drinks and piling them on the table he'd conjured. "Also, so you know who's coming? Do you know if a bloke by the name of Remus Lupin will be here?"

Getting up the Matterhorn was an interesting experience, but Cayce finally figured it out. She grinned at the streamers and waved to the hosts.

"Hi there." She held up her laptop bag. "I brought my computer and my iPod. Since I've got about, oh, ten thousand songs between the two things, I figured we'd have at least some music appropriate for a card game."

The Philip Glass and Steve Reich were probably right out, but hopefully the rest would do.

((Re: Cayce's extensive music collection. If it was released before Nov. 2004 and is not country & western, easy listening, gangsta rap, or crappy Top 40 stuff, there's a chance she may have it. The chance is increased if it's minimalist classical, New Wave, David Bowie, punk/post-punk, or pop in the Belle and Sebastian or Magnetic Fields mold. We have also determined that she has the Rolling Stones's singles collection Hot Rocks. XD))

This is very good news. Well, of course, there is the small matter that Remus may believe him to be a dangerous murderer, but that matters very little when Sirius considers that Remus has never been very good at cards.

Cayce plugged the laptop in and started up iTunes, and with a few cables, wired the iPod so that it would play through the laptop's speakers. She could've done with a better sound system, but this would do for now.

And then, because it was one of her favorite songs, she cued up David Bowie's Starman.

"It's an iPod. It's ... basically a little hard drive that stores and plays music. This one has something like eight thousand songs on it."

Uriel arrived to find Katou, two other people, and music. He glanced around the room, raising an eyebrow. Really, balloons?

"Good evening," he then said to those already present. "I hope Katou hasn't managed to cause any trouble yet."

Psyche eyed the Matterhorn bobsleds dubiously. They were slow at some places in the climb, she saw, but for the most part they whipped along at top speed, and invulnerable or not she felt that if you were heavily strapped into a ride there was probably a reason for it. Also, she was carrying a tray of 'decorate your own' mini cakes (http://albums.mouseplanet.com/DLPlazaInnProcessed/cake.jpg) from the Plaza Inn, and packaged or not they weren't really meant to go on a ride. And then there was the stack of party hats she'd found at the same place.* At last, very faintly embarrassed, she stepped out from the loading area, and flew up slowly, holding her offerings in a bundle.

The drifting notes of a pop song helped her find her way to the room. Beaming, she looked for a place to set things down. "A music-player! Oh, hello, Katou, how are you? I hope cake is tasty-and-unnutritious enough?"

*They were meant for parties, weren't they? It was right there in the name. Clearly, if you could add an extra bit of ceremony to festivities, you did.**

**Though she had at least grasped that sacrifices and libations had gone out of fashion several centuries ago.

It was only fitting. Anyway, obviously they had all needed an excuse to have a party. Psyche grinned, and held out a purple-foil covered hat to Katou. "I'm glad. Thanks for putting this all together." She sighted the snacks table. "Over there? I should warn you, the dye on the frosting seems to be incredibly indelible. We'll probably all end up with red and blue stained teeth."

James hadn't played poker since his school days, and was rather looking forward to it. When he made it to the top of the Matterhorn, the first thing he did was look around, spot Sirius, and then go up to him. "Sirius, hey. I didn't know you were coming to this too."

Sirius, pulling a party hat onto his head (he looked ridiulous, but he was one of those sort of people who never care if they look ridiculous and generally wind up looking good, anyway), grinned and turned to James.

"Are you kidding? This is my place we're playing it in, so I'm definitely joining in. Besides, I like poker as long as there's no money involved." Sirius had never been good at poker-- his clever mind mastered the rules and strategy nearly instantly, but he had the worst poker face imaginable. He was known for actually doing a victory dance from time to time when he got a good hand. But while he didn't like to lose too much money, clothing was overrated, anyway.

"This is your place? Really?" James hadn't actually known where Sirius was staying. "How'd you get a nice place like this while I got stuck on boat?" James looked at Sirius' hat and grinned, but opted out of getting one for himself. Though his ego had deflated significantly since school, he still cared very much about looking cool. "Nice hat."

"Thank you," said Sirius, tilting his hat at a jaunty angle and grinning. "And I got this place because I was the only one clever enough to find it."

Quite a while after Kira -- Setsuna had spent ages trying to find something extra to add to his usual attire, but he hadn't bothered to grab any jackets while home -- Setsuna finally strolled in, trying to act casual. For some reason, card games that required a bit of luck at chance had never been his strong point.

Apparently that Devil's luck of his didn't apply here, sadly. That didn't stop him from smiling and hoping to enjoy the evening.

"You rode the ride and found it by accident, didn't you?" James asked, smiling.

This was the Sirius he knew. If Sirius had been responsible for his death, he wouldn't be the same Sirius. He had been mostly sure before, but now he was positive.
