"Oh, okay." This makes enough sense to be going along with, and also explains all the questions he was being asked. Not that Calvin minded - it's not like they were the 'what is the difference of 7 and 3?' (clearly, one was wavy and one was pointy) or 'why on earth would you do something like that?!' or 'noodles?!?!' kind of questions, which he objects to.
