Bored, the demon walked over to the lake to see who was around...

((Crowley really, really wants to do some bastardly things to people. If you'd like him to do something nasty to your character, leave me an OOC note in your reply, otherwise he'll be good. Marginally. No promises, really...))

Harvey looked up, sizing up the man behind him. "Have the ducks done something terrible to you? They seem perfectly peaceable to me, swimming there like that."

"So, like everything else, they're more dangerous than they appear," Harvey mused.

"I can think of someone that describes," grumbled John.

Harvey got out the duct tape and snuck up behind John. "Be quiet. Now," he suggested.

"Where I come from, you've got to be paranoid to get through the day," said Harvey. Someone as observant as Crowley might notice a slight tilt to his shoulders that seemed off. But there was no restless movement. Harvey didn't move unless he had to.

Now, that's a complicated question. Technically, Harvey's from a chip created by an insane military commander a scheming, creepy megalomaniac. But that's a little complicated to tell a stranger.

"Earth, by way of a galaxy far, far away. You?" It's close enough to the truth -- the body's from Earth, anyway.

Harvey's not used to needing respect. John doesn't respect him. Not everyone respects Scorpius, either, and it didn't seem to matter.

"Never been to London," said Harvey, and it was the truth. "Nice place?"

"Well, I WAS kicking his ass for a good while there," John growled.

"And I'm sure your father was very proud of you for that afternoon," Harvey returned smoothly.

"Well, it was always interesting," Harvey said. "Shooting people, getting shot at, trying to keep one large group of angry, armed people from blowing up another large group of angry, armed people." Bragging? Harvey? Never.

"Well, I missed out on the real Disneyland, though a friend told me nothing but good things. I didn't realize that Small World ride was real."

"Didja HAVE to mention that song?" John said. "Now it's in my HEAD, and it's not getting out!"

"Hero?" Harvey said. "Oh, I wouldn't call myself that. Just a sidekick, really."

((Tagging out for the night ... must sleep and compose a letter. Night!))

"Well, my friend often resembles a sticky, whiny child, so perhaps he fits in well there." Harvey grinned as well as he could when using John's face.

"Oh, I've always been the sidekick. No point in trying to start off on my own adventures -- who'd join my trusty band of followers?"

[identity profile] astronutty.livejournal.com 2007-03-22 01:37 am (UTC)(link)
"I'll be sure not to," Harvey returned. "It sounds like you wouldn't get along." Harvey smiled at John. "No offense, but I don't think you're his type."

"Oh, I'm used to being in everyone's shadow," said Harvey cheerfully. "Besides, doesn't heroism usually get you killed?"

[identity profile] astronutty.livejournal.com 2007-03-22 04:19 am (UTC)(link)
"Ah, but what purpose do they ever serve?" Harvey smiled cheerfully. It wasn't pretty. "If I'm going to have people killed on my account, I'd prefer that they at least did my will or something. At least they'd feel useful."

[identity profile] astronutty.livejournal.com 2007-03-24 06:38 am (UTC)(link)
"But it's even more useful to keep them alive," Harvey countered. "Dead people are completely useless, unless you need a shield. And even then, they're so messy that it's hardly worth it."

Truth to say, Harvey doesn't really have experience with getting people killed -- his only job is to keep John alive. Everyone else might be expendable to him, but not to John. And if John really wants to save someone, well, Harvey has to work with him.

"Yes, but you'll always need people to do things. Chaos needs helping along, you know. Besides, it's always good to have someone around to talk to." As someone whose whole purpose in the universe was convincing a certain someone to do certain things for a certain someone else, Harvey wasn't sure what he'd do without John to kick around. He had a sort of idea, but he didn't like it very much.

Sorry for being late -- a friend lent me Good Omens to reread this weekend and I got caught up.

Well, yes, there would always be people. But there wouldn't always be John (especially not if he didn't stop trying to get himself killed), and that was Harvey's problem.

"Nice talking to you," Harvey said, smiling. "Try not to kill all of the ducks on your way."
