"I know," Percy agreed gently, albeit vaguely. "The world is not a kind place, my dear fellow, but you are here and they are not. It is so difficult to become attached to someone here, only to have them leave unexpectedly. It hasn't happened often to me, and for that I'm thankful, but...it is not pleasant despite the frequency. It is unexpected and it leaves you feeling empty." He knew he was rambling on and thus stopped.
