Party in Fantasyland! (Open to All)

The loading area and deck in front of It's a Small World had been transformed. Two large tables had been set up, one bearing the music equipment that Cayce had lugged over from Tomorrowland, the other marked out for food and drink. Another food table was set up at the shop.

Various other places in the vicinity had been marked out as well: a wide space for a dance floor; another wide space with a sign RESERVED FOR STARBUCK posted; a grassy area marked RESERVED FOR M. BEAUFORT; and the loading area was marked RESERVED FOR KIRA AND SETSUNA. Over the walk up to the ride, Cayce had hung a large hand-lettered banner that read:

IT'S A SMALL UNIVERSE (ALL OF THEM)

She'd raided every shop in the park for decorations, and pillars and eaves were festooned with Disneyfied representations of various cultures; there was some Mulan merchandise here, a few items ganked from the Indiana Jones Adventure there. Cayce herself felt, somewhat ruefully, that she wasn't capable of being much more than a representation of early 21st-century urban America, so she wore the dress Crowley had given her. Anyone who was expecting her to do a reprise of the bikini business would be sadly disappointed.

After Cayce felt that a critical mass of crowd had been achieved, she went to the music system and turned on the microphone.

"Hi there, everyone. It's good to see you here, and thanks for playing along with my silly party idea. It's kind of a squishy liberal American thing to say—see, I'm representing my culture now—but can I just say that it's great to see the diversity here, and to see everyone taking pride in where they come from. So, thanks. Especially to Psyche, for letting us tromp all over her home and for keeping the music under control; to Crowley as always for the booze; and to everyone who brought something to share." She started to put the mic down, then remembered: "Oh, and thank you to Kira and Setsuna, who will be starting a limbo contest shortly." She grinned. "So if you think you're up for it, see how low you can go." A self-deprecating laugh at the cheesiness of what she'd just said. "Thanks again for coming, and have fun."

((Party time! Talk amongst yourselves, hassle Cayce, get drunk and ride through It's a Small World (not recommended), and otherwise have fun. Feel free to set your post before or after Cayce's little speech.))

((ETA: Here's the limbo thread!))

Shaun had been waiting all week for limbo. He sauntered up to the Princess girl, who must be new... "It's simple, love. You try to get under the bar by bending over backwards. Nice 'n easy." He grinned and shoved his hands in his pockets to wait for his turn...then ended up turning around and staring at Aphrodite. Which was probably very rude.

Setsuna, not knowing Aphrodite, simply didn't care. Someone might want to explain that to him, one day.... Until then, he just stared at her, then grinned at Virgil. "Nothin' wrong with it. We probably got other people to do Japan anyway."

"Princess Tutu", on the other hand, got a confused, blinking stare from Setsuna. He didn't recognize her so much on sight, but the aura was practically glaring at him. It was the name that threw him off.

"...but you.... You feel just like Duck," Setsuna muttered before shaking his head and turning back to Kira. "Weren't you going to try to get everyone smashed first?"

"Kira darling! How wonderful. I might have to play."

As for Princess Tutu ... well, that explained some of the strangeness Aphrodite had sensed from her, alongside the duck-changing business. How delightful. She smiled at the girl in greeting.

"Form a line for what?" Rukia asked as she arrived. She'd just finished creating her Japan banner.

[identity profile] swordandchalice.livejournal.com 2008-07-30 01:10 pm (UTC)(link)
"Senpai..." Setsuna said in a warning tone. He couldn't tell half the time if Kira was being sincere or flirting with every single woman ever. "If you're hitting on her, knock it off and save it until I'm gone," Setsuna warned him in a hiss.

As for the Duck matter, Setsuna blushed a little and shut his mouth. Clearly if she was going around calling herself Princess Tutu she didn't want everyone know who she normally was. As for a line...Setsuna wasn't going, yet.

"What is this foolish line for?" Franziska snapped, angry that people were lining up for something that wasn't her Germany presentation.

[identity profile] swordandchalice.livejournal.com 2008-07-30 05:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Setsuna blinked, realized who was speaking and grinned grinned. "It's for limbo. You should play with us. It'd be good for you. You need to loosen up."

[identity profile] perfect-karma.livejournal.com 2008-07-30 05:20 pm (UTC)(link)
"I assure you, I would easily defeat any of you at your own fool's limbo game. However, it is so worthless and uninteresting that I will not participate." She turned to the line. "If anyone wishes to play a real game, come to my Germany booth and I will defeat you at it."

"Insolent fool," snapped Franziska, and her whip as well. "I will do the most perfect limbo you have ever seen, and you shall cry foolish tears of regret all the way to my Germany presentation."

Tutu gave Shaun a thankful smile, and gave a little curtsy to all who had gathered. "Greetings, Shaun, Setsuna, Sir Kira, Aphrodite." Expression turned rather panicky as Setsuna recognised her as Duck, leading to a surprised Duck-like expression and a barely-aborted, "Qua-!" She was quite glad when he dropped the matter, though she was sure there would be questions later. Boys never seemed able to just let things lie.

"Please, miss," Tutu said to Franziska hesitantly, "could you not whip others so frequently? It's quite a dangerous thing to do, and gives people the impression that you're a violent person."

Tutu smiled at Kira and asked somewhat shyly, "I would appreciate the presentation, if you please. I am not familiar with any form of dancing other than ballet."

Shaun was busy trying to figure out the crazy German lady, but he decided that if they still needed someone to go first, he would. Even if Barbossa would laugh if he was still hanging around watching. "I'll go first. And you put that whip away, or you're getting thrown in t'lake, missy." Did he just pick that up off Barbossa?

[identity profile] capn-corpse.livejournal.com 2008-07-31 03:12 am (UTC)(link)
Barbossa had been watching this little cluster form for quite a while, and since it had been forming and he had been impatiently watching and tossing back the poorly distilled rum, he had gotten exceedingly tipsy in the process. And yet for all his waiting, no one was going under the stick! The line just kept getting longer and longer and longer....

For no apparent reason other than drunken boredom the old pirate captain stepped in front of Shaun, rum still clutched in his hand, and limboed rather gracelessly under the stick with a loud cackle.

"Not bad fer an old sailor!" he cried drunkenly, then wandered off to find something else to do.

There were few things more calculated to make Psyche worry around here than seeing her mother-in-law surrounded by mostly-unsuspecting potential victims and performing feats of suggestive athleticism. She sighed, catching sight of the game, then moved in, intending to draw her fire.

Clapping for Barbossa, she made her way over to Kira's side and said, mock-hurt, "I object, Kira. You've made no provision for those of us with differently-bendy backs."

After watching Barbossa with the sort of embarassed roll of the eyes one would if their dad was limboing/dancing/making jokes in front of all of their friends, Shaun grinned, as he still had the distinct advantage of being younger, and shorter than most. In a vague attempt at style, he limboed under the stick, then grinned, "C'mon, at this height it's easy, even without supernatural ability."

[identity profile] seafoamrisen.livejournal.com 2008-07-31 02:20 pm (UTC)(link)
"Oh, why not?" Aphrodite cried out gaily. She'd been toning down her presence a little, especially once Psyche arrived on the scene, and took this moment to crank the presence back up to its usual glittering style.

She probably should have looked ridiculous as she shimmied under the pole, but it was more like seeing a particularly skilled bellydancer perform the action, and she straightened up with a swish of her hips and a broad, bright smile.

[identity profile] kuchiki.livejournal.com 2008-07-31 04:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Rukia watched Aphrodite with a slightly mesmerized expression, and followed almost immediately as though in a trance. She was so short, though, that she could just walk under it with only a halfhearted tilt of her head.

"Like that?" she asked.

Tutu, too, was quite enchanted by Aphrodite, and was only barely resisting the urge to ask her to dance. It took her a few moments to recover, and once she had done so she faced the stick and tried to work out exactly how she was going to limbo under it. Tutu was quite flexible, but ballerinas tend to not move all that much when leaning backwards.

Still, she did her best, leaning backwards just far enough to pass under the bar and stepping carefully in that odd ballet feet-pointing-out-to-the-side way. She righted herself with a smile and a small pirouette and said cheerfully to Kira, "It is quite an excellent game, Sir Kira."

[identity profile] swordandchalice.livejournal.com 2008-08-01 03:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Seeing as Kira was waiting, Setsuna took advantage of his sober moment to lean back and slip under the bar with little trouble. It wasn't as fluid as Tutu or Aphrodite (who had little effect on him), but the blond was limber enough, and he enjoyed the activity, however slight it was. Maybe his small stature actually came in handy for once, he decided with a grin.

"Who's next?" he asked to keep things moving.

[identity profile] perfect-karma.livejournal.com 2008-08-01 03:21 pm (UTC)(link)
"I will be next," Franziska informed everyone. "The beautiful woman did quite an excellent job, therefore it is only far that I follow her (and the small girl) in order to help fully crush your hopes of ever defeating us."

With this, she strode forward resolutely, glaring at the limbo bar, and bent quite perfectly to walk under it.

"Have you decided to give up?" she asked those still waiting.
