Party in Fantasyland! (Open to All)

The loading area and deck in front of It's a Small World had been transformed. Two large tables had been set up, one bearing the music equipment that Cayce had lugged over from Tomorrowland, the other marked out for food and drink. Another food table was set up at the shop.

Various other places in the vicinity had been marked out as well: a wide space for a dance floor; another wide space with a sign RESERVED FOR STARBUCK posted; a grassy area marked RESERVED FOR M. BEAUFORT; and the loading area was marked RESERVED FOR KIRA AND SETSUNA. Over the walk up to the ride, Cayce had hung a large hand-lettered banner that read:

IT'S A SMALL UNIVERSE (ALL OF THEM)

She'd raided every shop in the park for decorations, and pillars and eaves were festooned with Disneyfied representations of various cultures; there was some Mulan merchandise here, a few items ganked from the Indiana Jones Adventure there. Cayce herself felt, somewhat ruefully, that she wasn't capable of being much more than a representation of early 21st-century urban America, so she wore the dress Crowley had given her. Anyone who was expecting her to do a reprise of the bikini business would be sadly disappointed.

~

After Cayce felt that a critical mass of crowd had been achieved, she went to the music system and turned on the microphone.

"Hi there, everyone. It's good to see you here, and thanks for playing along with my silly party idea. It's kind of a squishy liberal American thing to say—see, I'm representing my culture now—but can I just say that it's great to see the diversity here, and to see everyone taking pride in where they come from. So, thanks. Especially to Psyche, for letting us tromp all over her home and for keeping the music under control; to Crowley as always for the booze; and to everyone who brought something to share." She started to put the mic down, then remembered: "Oh, and thank you to Kira and Setsuna, who will be starting a limbo contest shortly." She grinned. "So if you think you're up for it, see how low you can go." A self-deprecating laugh at the cheesiness of what she'd just said. "Thanks again for coming, and have fun."

((Party time! Talk amongst yourselves, hassle Cayce, get drunk and ride through It's a Small World (not recommended), and otherwise have fun. Feel free to set your post before or after Cayce's little speech.))

((ETA: Here's the limbo thread!))

"Doesn't surprise me, lassie," replied the Captain. "Ye learn a lot on a ship. One of those invaluable life lessons being men...people," he corrected himself, "in enclosed spaces of'en require spirits t' keep 'em goin'."

He wandered off to find cups, returning with two and dipping them into the cask of rum. It was strong - Barbossa didn't care for watered-down grog, and he sniffed it with a satisfied snarl before handing over a cup to Cayce. "An' we make due when we need t'. To yer health, Missy." He raised his glass to her and drank it down.

Barbossa watched Cayce gave a bit of a chuckle into his cup as he down the liquor. It was strong - hell, he was no brewer, but it was good and it'd get the job done. Best of all, it were free.

"Aye, lass, let th' others know this rum be for them," he nodded, scooping out another glass. He then went to wander around and observe the rest of this sad lot, hoping for some amusement.

Shaun heard of a party and had slightly planned a vaguely patriotic English part, but lost interest, so decided to turn up. Ooh, limbo! Until that got started, he ambled around, hoping to see someone interesting. HEY! Pirate! He bounded over, "Hey hey, Cap'n."

[identity profile] capn-corpse.livejournal.com 2008-07-29 10:16 pm (UTC)(link)
What on earth - oh, it was the boy. "Hello thar, lad," Barbossa said with a certain kind of fondness. "Rum in tha' barrel o'er there, courtesy of a cer'ain captain." Barbossa gestured towards the barrel of rum with a glint of pride in his eyes.

[identity profile] skined-shaun.livejournal.com 2008-07-29 10:28 pm (UTC)(link)
"Rum?!" Now, this was a party. Shaun bounded over to the barrel and grabbed a cup, filling it gratutiously. He took one sip, and nearly choked, "Bloody 'ell, captain, what's in that?" He weighed up how potent it was and then decided to stuff it, it was a party and took another sip.

[identity profile] capn-corpse.livejournal.com 2008-07-29 10:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Perhaps Barbossa should have warned the lad....nah. He'd be all-right. After all, the old Captain's eyesight still worked perfectly fine, so why should there be worries? "Molasses, water, yeast, an' a whole lot of waitin', lad." Plus a few other things that didn't concern the boy.

"T'would be a right shame if ye didn't drink up," he grinned, slapping Shaun on the back and pouring himself another glass.

[identity profile] skined-shaun.livejournal.com 2008-07-29 11:01 pm (UTC)(link)
"That's one hell of a wait, I reckon." It didn't make much sense to him but he took another sip, hoping this wouldn't blind him, at least, but the captain looked okay, so he downed the rest, "That's bloody strong stuff, though. I think you get points. Lotssa points."

[identity profile] capn-corpse.livejournal.com 2008-07-29 11:08 pm (UTC)(link)
"Tired of being sober, Shaun m'boy," Barbossa muttered, dragging a seat off to the side and beckoning for the boy to follow suit. He probably should mention that the kid might want to take it easy on the rum, what with it being shine and all, as he was fond of the boy and could care less about the others there drinking....

He'd think about it.

[identity profile] skined-shaun.livejournal.com 2008-07-29 11:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Shaun grabbed a chair and followed Barbossa, before unceremoniously dumping it and sitting down, "Oh aye, there's no drink here, is there? Not normally, anyway." Shaun had never really noticed, as he only really drank when his mates were handing it around.

Orihime was always up for trying new things, so...until the limbo started, she was going to have a glass of this...stuff. Whatever it was.

She coughed a bit after downing it, but grinned and said, "This is pretty good! It would go well with my sushi~!"

[identity profile] lunch-princess.livejournal.com 2008-07-29 02:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Drunk Orihime might not be much different from sober Orihime, but it was for the best the redhead was forewarned, considering.

"Kick?" Orihime asked with a giggle. "It didn't kick me. But now that you mention it, it is kinda potent." She took another drink, noticed the burning, gave that a few moments of thought, then, still a bit giggly, asked, "Is it alcohol?"

[identity profile] lunch-princess.livejournal.com 2008-07-29 02:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Best distraction ever, even if Cayce hadn't intended it. Orihime abandoned her cup and looked in Barbosa's direction with wide eyes and a smile. "Is he a space pirate or an ocean pirate?" she asked, then went on imaginig about him. "I bet he has buried treasure somewhere. Or a love he had to leave behind on land. And one day, she's going to sail out to find him and kill him for leaving her. And then he'll come back to life. Just in time for the space police to pick him. Or the British navy...depending on which he is."

[identity profile] lunch-princess.livejournal.com 2008-07-29 02:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Orihime's details were pretty much all off for the Pirates of the Caribbean movies, and even assuming she had seen them, she might still have her own version going.

"British navy, then," Orihime decided, before declaring, "And then another pirate will come along and find his treasure!" Naturally, in her mind, this particular pirate had familiar red hair, and a bountiful bossom barely fitting into her pirate costume.

This glee lasted for all of twenty seconds before Orihime went wide-eyed and cried out, "No, I don't want to be haunted by his ghost!"

Sushi? What in the bespectacled name of Davy Jones was this girl talking about? Barbossa threw back another half a glass and barely nodded his head. "Oh so pleased t' hear it," he grumbled.

[identity profile] lunch-princess.livejournal.com 2008-07-30 01:53 am (UTC)(link)
If he had asked out loud, Barbossa might have had the unpleasant experience of Orihime giving him a piece of the sushi she made. But back to the rum. Orihime was startled at first, but she smiled and offered, "Thank you very much for the rum, Pirate-san."

[identity profile] capn-corpse.livejournal.com 2008-07-30 02:10 am (UTC)(link)
"Captain," he corrected gruffly. He didn't care for how joyous this one was, so he brushed off her enthusiasm and leered when a thought came over him. "Ye see tha' big barrel, missy? I brought so much, and me tired arms can't carry it back all meself. T'would help this old man if ye could drink as much as possible."

[identity profile] lunch-princess.livejournal.com 2008-07-30 01:19 pm (UTC)(link)
"Captain Pirate~!" Orihime corrected herself happily. She looked at the barrel when Barbossa talked about it, then gave him a sly grin. "Oh no. I can't drink that much. I'll have to have lots of help."

[identity profile] capn-corpse.livejournal.com 2008-07-30 06:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Eh, close enough. Barbossa shrugged. "Then by all means, lass, have yer help," he grunted. "Jus' don't let me rum go t' waste."

[identity profile] katoustheshit.livejournal.com 2008-07-31 08:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Katou had told himself that he wasn't going to get drunk for this. Really, he had to keep an eye out for danger and his wits about him.

But, well, there didn't seem to be much danger around. And a barrel of something liquid was burning his nostrils. It was just too good of an opportunity to skip.

He grabbed a glass, dipped it in, and too a swig. Then, he stopped to gasp for air and mutter ouch. He grabbed himself a glass of water, chased what he had down, and then, knowing what to expect, chugged the rest of his glass and reached for another one.
