St. Lucia's Day Celebration
Dec. 31st, 2007 11:54 amIt had taken Tamaki a few days (and several bandages to add to the ones that he earned while making Christmas dinner), but he managed to make seven poorly made white robes, six with red sashes, a wreath adorned with several candles (this he actually walked around with on his head and hopped and jumped to make sure it wouldn't come tumbling down when worn), and even a cone hat adorned with stars.
Once he was done that, he was pleased to note that it was still Christmasy, and then got to preparing some letters.
Dearest Chii,
It's been some time since I last saw you. I attribute that entirely to my not going to Fay's café to do my job. However, I would like to ask you to help me with a favour.
In Sweden, on December 13th, they have Saint Lucia's Day. It's a day where they remember a Saint by the name of Lucia who had become a nun. Her mother wanted her to marry a pagan, and she refused. He loved her eyes, so she took them out, and gave them to him, but God gave her new, more beautiful ones. Then, soldiers tried to set her on fire, but she would not burn. Finally, she was stabbed through the throat, but she continued to speak beautiful words for three hours before she died.
On Saint Lucia's Day, a girl is chosen to become 'Saint Lucia' and she wears a crown of candles, and has several maids, and they have a procession through town. There is a young girl here from Sweden by the name of Pippi, and I would like to throw her a Saint Lucia's celebration. I would like to ask if you would like to become one of those maids.
Yours Always,
Tamaki Suoh
Dearest Shizuka, he wrote in Japanese,
How are you settling into the castle. I hope that you're enjoying your stay in Disneyland. If you would like, I could take you around the park again. I know several great places to eat, and I'm sure that you'd enjoy them quite a bit. At this time, however, I am asking for a favour.

Dear Pearl,
I regret to have not yet met you yet. I, however, heard you over the radio, and still wish to meet you. You sounded very young. How old are you? I would like to know if you would like to assist me in a very special favour.

Her mother wanted her to marry a young man, but a nun, her vows prevented her. She turned him down. He was very upset that his feelings were unrequited, and tried to have her killed, but through the miracle of God, she continued to live for some time.

He may have known well enough to censer the story for Pearl, but he clearly did not know enough to use smaller words for her.
My Fair Lilly,
How are you doing? I hope that this letter finds you well. I had quite a bit of fun at the snowball fight. I hope that you did too. It was my first one, and I was delighted to spend it with a woman as beautiful as you are. I regret to tell you that I have yet to dedicate a song to you, but I promise that it will be soon. I write this letter at this time, however, to ask you for a favour.

Lovely Sara, he wrote, also in Japanese,
How are you? We needs get together for the piano lessons soon. I've spoken to your boyfriend, Setsuna, and I apologize for how forward I was with you. I did not know that you were seeing anyone. I hope that you were not too offended, because in the presence of a beautiful woman, I cannot help but compliment her. I think it is a mortal sin to do anything but. I write this letter at this time to both beg your forgiveness, and ask you for a favour.

He intended to surprise Pippi after he got the other girls' responses (and them dressed), and then he would find her.
Somehow, at least. He realized now that he had not asked where she lived. He frowned to himself, and then wrote one more letter.
My Dear Pippi,
Would you do me the honour of meeting me at the front gates when the sun goes down tonight?
Your Friend,
Tamaki Suoh

Date: 2007-12-31 11:55 pm (UTC)Chii!! I will gladly help and be a maid. Though I do not fully understand how someone can lose their eyes and get new ones. They grow back? It is sad so many bad things were done to Saint Lucia-san, but there is no harm in the celebration, right? We are not going to hurt Pippi-san, are we? If not, I will help.
Thank you for telling Chii of this, Tamaki-san.

Date: 2008-01-01 12:21 am (UTC)It's so great to hear from you! There's no need to apologize, really. I'm sorry for having not said anything about Setsuna. I hope he didn't say anything rude to you or anything... you're just very sweet! I'm good, though! How have you been? Oh! And yes, piano lessons! I would love that! But only when you have the time.
Oh my... that's very intriguing. I've never heard of Saint Lucia's Day until now, but I would love to participate!
Sincerely,
Mudou Sara

Date: 2008-01-01 12:25 am (UTC)I'm fine. How are you doing? Is everything okay?
That's a horrible story! Stabbed in the throat? Set on fire? How awful...
But if it would make this Pippi feel more at home to have a St. Lucia day, then I'd be happy to be a maid.

Date: 2008-01-01 01:25 am (UTC)That makes me very happy. Yes, the reason for the celebration is both sad, but it's important in many cultures. Don't worry, I will not allow any harm to befall Pippi. Please, meet me at Peter Pan's Flight.
Yours,
Tamaki

She did as instructed and showed up at Peter Pan's Flight, dressed in one of her pretty pink princess dresses.

Date: 2008-01-01 06:21 am (UTC)I am eight years old. Mr. Nick helped me read your letter and explained it to me. He is smart and nice and hand-some.
I didn't really understand your story about the nun. I think she should have married the man if he was smart and nice and hand-some, too. Mystic Maya is going to marry Mr. Nick and she's sort of like a nun.
But anyway, I will be happy to be in your parade now that I have learned my commas.
Your friend,
Pearl

Date: 2008-01-01 06:25 am (UTC)Wow, eight years old!
She didn't love the man, which is a very important reason why she didn't marry him. You shouldn't get married if you don't love someone. But congratulations to Mr. Nick!
I can't wait to see you! Come meet me at Peter Pan's Flight.
