James and Sirius, for today an accountant and a dentist, respectively, put the finishing touches on the Haunted Mansion (they had started the night before, and upon finding that in the morning their changes were still there, they had been quite pleased and finished up). Now that the room where the ceiling rose was magicked so that everyone would fit in it and still have plenty of space to move. On top of that, they had magically rewired the loudspeakers to the room, put up some spooky decorations, and even completed it with fake, scary looking ghosts (they had both been quite disappointed in the morning to discover that some of their ruder decorations, including hot, naked ghosts, were removed).

Then, James began to write the letters, and started some music.

Crowley,

We're throwing a party at the Haunted Mansion. Do you think you could provide refreshments? Feel free to come as well.

Then, identical letters were sent out to everyone in the park.

Hey,

There will be a Halloween party at the Haunted Mansion in New Orlean's Square. Come around and have a great time. Also, if you have drinks or food that you want to bring to share, feel free.

On the bottom of the paper, there's a witch flying on a broom, actually moving around on the paper.

"Huh?" said Katou. "Ash? You sure about that? Maybe you had too much... juice."

"Ash Ketchum," he insisted, "From the Town of Pallet. Greatest Pokemon Master in the world!"

This Pokemon master was feeling just a little dazed at the moment.

"Well," said Katou. "That's weird." He had always known him as Satoshi from Masara Town, but if he insisted his name was Ash... "I'm Katou. Katou Yue."

"Awesome," Ash said, grinning. "Hiiii~ Katou. So what Pokemon do you have?"

"Uh..." Katou said. He hadn't really ever played Pokemon. He had a couple of times, but hadn't really paid much attention. "Well," he said. "I have a Pikachu," everyone knew Pikachu after all, "and the uh..." The lizard thing with the burning tail. "Hitokage," he frowned. "And..." the turtle one, "Zenigami. And Fushigidane. And lots of others."

He hoped Ash wouldn't think it was weird that he had all three of the starting Pokemon.

Well, Ash did have a three starter Pokemon plus one totally hacked Pikachu. "Whooa," he said. "Awesome! I haven't heard of most of those," he admitted. "But Pikachu is the best Pokemon for a Pokemon master ever and so not a pet for little girls!"

"Yeah!" Katou said, with what he hoped was excitement. He needed a drink. He poured himself a shot, and drank it quickly. Jesus Christ, he was talking about what imaginary creatures he owned with an anime character who didn't even know his own name. "Definitely not for little girls. Pikachu is bad ass."

It totally was for little girls. He saw middle schoolers with Pikachu backpacks all over the place.

Pikachu had no idea what 'bad ass' was, but he did know Ash wasn't feeling so good. "Pika-pi?" he asked concernedly, nudging Ash's cheek lightly. "Pikachu?"

Rukia, quite tipsy herslf, stumbled over to them. "Hiiii~!" she sang at Ash and this new person, clearly cheerful in part because she was toasted. Most people wouldn't be this smashed on what little Rukia had had to drink, but most people didn't weigh 79 pounds, either.

He waved, wobbling somewhat. "Hiii~ Rukia!" Ash hadn't had much either, but he wasn't very big himself, and had drank it pretty quickly, on top of never having had alcohol before. "A-are you trainin' t'be a Pokeymans Master too?"

Rukia hiccuped. "A wha?" she asked. Then she broke into a grin again. "Oh! Nooo. They're cute, but I don't know anything about...*hic*"

Ash laughed at Rukia's hiccups. "Ooookay! It seemed like you drank the juice Katie gave me," he said.

"Juice?" Rukia said. "Katie...?" She blinked curiously, sure even in her drunken state that she didn't know anyone named Katie. "I don't think I had any juice. I did have soda water an'---*hic*---'erb---herbibble---herbal alcohol, though."

"There's alcohol here?" he asked, sounding shocked. This was supposed to be a Halloween party, who would have alcohol at a Halloween party? "I jus' had oringe juice," he said, pointing at the bottle of orange liquor. "I's blech but Katooo said was good f'r Pacmon training."

Rukia's brain took a good minute or so processing what Ash had said. Whether it was because she was drunk and slow on the uptake, or because he was drunk and slurring, it was impossible to say. Probably a bit of both.

"Ornage juice?" she repeated, not quite understanding what he said even when she had obstensibly processed everything. "I dinnit know they had non-alcoma...non-*hic*...non-drunk-making drinks here!" Wait. He was pointing to a liquor bottle! That meant... that meant...

That meant something bad, and when Rukia figured out it was, she was going to be angry!

"Where's Katou? I dun' seem 'him."

"S'over there," Ash said, pointing a few feet to the left of where Katou was. "Pok'mon Master witha big scary arm can' missem."

"Pikachu is super cool~" Ash said, not really getting badass either other than that it was similar to awesome. "Hiii buddy," he grinned. He pulled Pikachu off his shoulder and hugged it. "'M okay just trainin' to be a Pokemon Masteeeer. Tough work but you train super hard so I gotta too~!"

Hugging was utterly fine, but Ash currently wasn't. He rarely used tildes.

"Pika-pi," Pikachu said sternly. "Pika."

Seeing Pikachu and Satoshi - now Ash - together, was possibly the most trippy thing he had ever experienced, even when he was on drugs.

"Hello," Katou said. "Ru-something, right?" he said to Rukia.

He took another glance at Ash and Pikachu, looked at the orange drink, and then took another shot. Part of him seemed opposed to him getting drunk, and was making him drink much slower, but the rest of him was going "Holy shit, Pokemon characters, get trashed."

"Whaaat," he said, frowning at Pikachu. "Pichaku, that doesn' even make sense, Bulbasaur ishn' even here an' if it was it wouldn' talk about my mom that way!"

Ash got an unimpressed look for several long moments.

"Pika," Pikachu said in a voice just as unamused, and shocked him, perhaps a little harder than necessary.

"O-ow," Ash said as soon as his best friend was done electrocuting him. "Pikachu, what'd you do that for?" Then he groaned. "Uuuugh, I feel really sick."

There was nothing to kill your buzz like an electric shock, but he definitely could still feel the other effects of the drink.

"Pika-pika pikachu," Pikachu said loftily. But he did feel bad about making Ash feel even worse than before, so licked his nose lightly and decided to help his Trainer as much as possible, in any way he could.

"Thought it was juice," he protested. "And Kat-Katou said it was good f'r Pokemon Masters."

He wasn't mad at Pikachu, though-- Pikachu always tended to shock when it was worried or upset, so obviously it was just worried at how weird the drink was making its trainer act. He hugged Pikachu when it licked his nose.

"Just wanted to be a good trainer like Katou," he said.
