(no subject)

James and Sirius, for today an accountant and a dentist, respectively, put the finishing touches on the Haunted Mansion (they had started the night before, and upon finding that in the morning their changes were still there, they had been quite pleased and finished up). Now that the room where the ceiling rose was magicked so that everyone would fit in it and still have plenty of space to move. On top of that, they had magically rewired the loudspeakers to the room, put up some spooky decorations, and even completed it with fake, scary looking ghosts (they had both been quite disappointed in the morning to discover that some of their ruder decorations, including hot, naked ghosts, were removed).

Then, James began to write the letters, and started some music.

Crowley,

We're throwing a party at the Haunted Mansion. Do you think you could provide refreshments? Feel free to come as well.

Then, identical letters were sent out to everyone in the park.

Hey,

There will be a Halloween party at the Haunted Mansion in New Orlean's Square. Come around and have a great time. Also, if you have drinks or food that you want to bring to share, feel free.

On the bottom of the paper, there's a witch flying on a broom, actually moving around on the paper.

Sirius didn't protest. When James apparated him, he felt as though he might be sick, but he clung on tightly to James and was all right. When they reappeared, he sunk to the floor onto his knees, and buried his face in his best friend's robes.

Sirius leaned into the embrace gratefully, wrapping his arms around James and holding him tightly in return. There wasn't anything James could say, that much was true, but at least James was here at all, and part of Sirius could believe that maybe this time James would remain with him. Even if Remus was gone, that was something at least.

He gave James a small smile, and kissed him on the cheek.

Sirius hadn't meant anything by it. He loved James more than anyone except possibly Harry, and had spent fourteen years of his life missing him so terribly that it was a constant hurt. James's words were a bit too much to handle, though, and this time it was impossible to keep himself from tearing up even if he could hide his face in his friend's robes.

"I don't feel well," he said. "I think I'll go to sleep now. Welcome to stay," he added wearily. "Don' have a bed, though."

Sirius generally slept on the floor, as Padfoot. He was surprisingly comfortable that way, far more comfortable than he was sleeping as a man in a bed.

Sirius nodded. He would have rather turned back into Padfoot, but he was a little drunk to manage it at the moment, so he curled up on the floor, and smiled a little at James rubbing his back.

"'kay," he said, and then closed his eyes and let himself drift off.
