Mr. Black,

I am Unfamiliar with your Miss Austen, but I left Philadelphia on the Evening of the first of July in the year 1776, mere hours before the Continental Congress voted for Independence from Britain. I am aware of the Events that transpired subsequently, so you needn't concern yourself that any Information you provide will change the course of History. I must Assume that at some point I return to fulfill my Duties as Signatory and President.

Perhaps the events of the Past and our place therein might be a suitable Topic for the salon.
