Adventureland, Closed RP

Booth couldn't find any rest or sleep now. One moment his son was with him, he tucked him in to bed and the next? POOF! Gone. He ran around trying to find him. He went to Bones for help only to find that she too, was gone. He continued his search, maybe they had gone off together? But nothing. Not a trace. After cursing the damn park from here to the moon and back he gave up. Utterly distraught he went in search of a distraction, picking up the sword Sir Percy had found him he went in search of the over dressed and well meaning man.

He used the sword to hack through scrubs and greenery in his way, grunting and swearing as he did. "Damn---plants!"

"And that," Percy concluded, "is when being strong-willed becomes useful." He raised his own cup to Booth's and clinked it against the other man's with a gentle smile. "May it remain good advice," he said skeptically, sipping his coffee in turn after the toast.

"Possibly out of a book of wit I had heard quoted at a dinner party," he said after a fashion, following it with his notorious laugh. "In any case, sir, I shall remain your friend until I am no longer able to stand by your side, for one reason or another." Meaning, whoever should disappear first, Booth or himself. "I am in need of a male companion...one who does not loathe the sight of me, preferably."

Percy cringed at the accent, making a show with an incredibly fake huff of indignation. He lowered his voice, "It make come as a shock to you, but most people loathe the sight of me! Why, just the other day I had a young boy punch me right square in the face. He knocked me to the ground and I had to tailor my suit, there was such a hole in it."

He tsked quietly. "Then there's the man with the massive amount of hair on his head, he used to be my main enemy up until a short while ago. And, of course, there's some Frenchie who obviously wishes for me to fall into a fountain."

"He jumped," Percy answered, absolutely without any hint of emotion to give his story away. He'd let the man guess as to whether he was telling the truth or not - he cared little either way.

"Oh, oui, oui," he agreed. Though there were always special cases... "Though don't mistake me, I am rather charmed by the French." He gave thought to Booth's question. It was a good question, to be sure, and one that could be answered in the affirmative on both parts. "A man here," he decided to answer. "Rather rotund fellow, large nose, often is seen with Lady Blakeney."

There was a short moment of silence, and then

"Gerard?"

Percy had been calling him Beaufort (or at least a derivative of his surname), but Booth immediately seemed to recognised his description. Was it the same man?

All Percy could do was think on this and shrug. Perhaps Booth was correct in his assumption, perhaps he was not. All Percy knew was that the man obviously fancied his wife and disliked him immensely. "Ods my life, this place is confusing," he remarked, shaking his head and finishing his cup of coffee. He set the mug down with a bit of a frown. "Either way, this man, Monsieur Beaufort is his name, he is rather attached to my wife. I cannot blame the poor man."

He doesn't stand a chance, Percy then thought to himself with a quiet smirk.

"It's quite complicated," Percy replied, still smirking to himself. "Lud, I was even unsure of things myself until a short time ago. My wife and I were...partially estranged, you see, but we have been trying to fix the situation. I have Mr. Adams to thank for that, bless him where ever he might be now."

He continued, more quietly and with his large frame leaning near Booth, "As unfashionable as it is, I do love my wife, and she loves me. I don't believe my dear girl knows that the man is rather smitten; she's quite kindly, you see, and has a very large heart. I don't envy him, for I doubt his best efforts will get him very far with her." Percy added, "And while he loathes me, I do feel sorry for the poor man. Marguerite is a lovely woman. Lud, a man can so easily fall for her! I regret that she might break his heart some day soon."

Sometimes Percy forgot that not everyone was aware of the ins and outs of society humour and lifestyle. "No, not really," he reassured Booth gently. "It is difficult to explain why that saying became popular in my time." He added a soft smile and shook his head, simply to reaffirm the truth in what he had been saying earlier. Even if it was unfashionable to love Marguerite, he would not care.

"As as friend I think she might be attached. By all accounts he has been very helpful to her, and good to her in this strange place. I...unfortunately was not." He sucked in his breath. "Sink me, I can be quite a fool. Quite an undeserving fool."

Percy rather liked that Booth seemed the romantic sort. It was a shame his son had to be taken away from him, not to mention he found it terrible that his lady friend was gone as well. He was suddenly struck by an ingenious plan and swiftly stored it in the back of his mind for later...use. His handsome friend Mr. Booth would have to have another lady friend.

"Marguerite and myself have made many rash and ill-thought out decisions. We're attempting to rectify this, but of course, it will take some time. I am an optimistic person by sheer profession, so things will work themselves out." He was vague on purpose, but figured this Booth character was just as good as he was at figuring people out with few clues given. All in good time.

He laughed softly, "Considering just how long I've been stuck here, I'd say I have to be optimistic, sir." He gave Booth a very gracious smile. "Thank you, I do appreciate the offer already. The very same goes for me as well. If I can help with anything, anything at all, do not hesitate to mention it."
