He was going to ask how it was possible to have more than one father in law, presuming she only had one husband...but then he decided perhaps that was one of those things better not known. There weren't many of them in Ponder's mind, but that was definately one of them.

"I'm sure Susan has more personal experience with gods than I do, but from what I can see, it's all a matter of belief. I mean, a god of evolution popped up because I believed in him hard enough. But the Roundworld...I suppose there's more similarities there than we give it credit for, but it's hard to deny the existance of a god when stray lightning bolts can turn up to prove differently."
