Somewhere in Toon Town - Dusk

Elle was bored again. She hadn't seen Spike in ages, so she decided she was going to go look for him.

She was unaware of any imminent threat that might be lurking, despite Cayce's recent warning about someone looking for her.

[post is open, but first thread is for Sylar & Elle (and the Mickey cops) only. read here for more info.]

"Got it," she said told Katou. "Don't have any swords, though, so you'll need to improvise. My powers are electricity based, too."

She then turned to Cayce, her lips quirking into a small smile. "Jenny Sparks." The prospect of a fight had brought back old habits more quickly than she would have expected, considering where she was and the fact that she'd thought she was more than ready to turn her metaphorical badge in by the time of her death. "I don't like the idea of bringing civilians to what could get messy. Does this bloke have a name and a face?"
caycep: (Hmm.)

"Calls himself Zane. Elle thought he might be someone named ... Peter, I think it was? Anyway, Zane Taylor is what he's calling himself now. And ... I know from personal experience that I am seriously outmatched by this guy, so, um." Cayce looked a bit disgruntled. "I don't like to run, but I also do not need to have my ass handed to me on a platter again."

[identity profile] katoustheshit.livejournal.com 2008-04-23 05:00 am (UTC)(link)
Katou laughed. "Probably best if you don't get involved anyway, Caycey," he said. "I got involved in things that were above me, and I got killed." He paused. "Not saying that you would be, since I'm pretty sure people don't get killed here. Just saying though."

[identity profile] centuryjenny.livejournal.com 2008-04-23 05:08 am (UTC)(link)
"That so?" Jenny asked, frowning again. "I'm really not fond of superpowered bastards who cause problems for everyone else." Which was an understatement. It had sounded to Jenny like this Zane was the bad news here even when they were talking about him targeting a girl with abilities like hers, but even in the (seemingly unlikely, from Jenny's vantage point) event that Cayce had provoked the fight, it was still not at all right for him to overpower a normal woman.

"I wouldn't think of it as running," she told Cayce instead. "Common bloody sense, you don't go up against something you can't handle. But I'll see to Zane." Turning to Katou, she added "What's this about people not getting killed?"
caycep: (Hmm.)

[personal profile] caycep 2008-04-23 05:14 am (UTC)(link)
"I should go with you to give you an ID on the guy," Cayce pointed out. "And then get out of the way, yeah. But I know what he looks like, and Elle too."

[identity profile] katoustheshit.livejournal.com 2008-04-23 05:17 am (UTC)(link)
"Elle's cute and blonde, isn't she?" asked Katou. He had met her when she had first arrived.

He turned to Jenny and frowned thoughtfully. "Huh. I guess V's the only non-cute blonde electricity user in the park."

[identity profile] centuryjenny.livejournal.com 2008-04-23 05:32 am (UTC)(link)
"If you think it makes sense to do so," Jenny told Cayce. "Dunno how unstable he is. I can find him on my own if I need to, but if the girl's in trouble, the faster we find them the better."

She raised an eyebrow at Katou's comment, but seemed neither offended nor particularly phased. "Bloody teenagers in this park need to learn to watch the cheek. Who's V?"

[identity profile] katoustheshit.livejournal.com 2008-04-24 05:06 am (UTC)(link)
"Watch the cheek? Katou made an exaggerated attempt to look at his own cheek, before he settled on quite obviously looking at a pair of cheeks on Jenny that were somewhat lower down. Oh, he was asking for an asskicking, and he knew it.

"V's this big black man," he said. "I mean, huge. Like the Hulk. Only bigger. And less green."

Ahaha, Katou really couldn't picture Virgil as a 'big black man' but, well, a little white lie would never hurt anyone.

[identity profile] centuryjenny.livejournal.com 2008-04-24 08:33 pm (UTC)(link)
"And he does the electric thing too. Good. Now answer my question about the killing," she instructed, ignoring his gaze. Honestly, Jenny didn't really care if he looked as long as he understood that touching was invitation only.
caycep: (Hmm.)

[personal profile] caycep 2008-04-24 08:35 pm (UTC)(link)
"Basically the park won't let people die," Cayce put in. "Fall off a high place, and you'll float to the ground. And if you try to kill someone, you get chucked into a fountain. I know of at least one case with an actual witness."

[identity profile] centuryjenny.livejournal.com 2008-04-24 09:08 pm (UTC)(link)
"Huh. Any idea how close to fatal you can get before the defense system kicks in?"

After all, there was a lot of damage a person could do without killing them. Not to mention, Jenny needed to know for her own purposes if she even got in a fight.
caycep: (Discontent)

[personal profile] caycep 2008-04-24 09:18 pm (UTC)(link)
"Close enough to cripple," Cayce said. "Although how I know that isn't really my story to tell."

[identity profile] centuryjenny.livejournal.com 2008-04-24 11:39 pm (UTC)(link)
"So enough that the wrong person can get up to plenty," Jenny said darkly. "Right. Obviously Zane's left the moat area. Any idea where he lives, or where he'd be headed?"
caycep: (Hmm.)

[personal profile] caycep 2008-04-25 12:00 am (UTC)(link)
Cayce shook her head. "No idea, unfortunately. He seems to drift around."

[identity profile] katoustheshit.livejournal.com 2008-04-26 12:06 am (UTC)(link)
"Well, it should be easy enough to find him," Katou said. "Wh -" and then he realized that neither Cayce nor Jenny would know what he feels like, so it wasn't going to be that easy.

"Well, shit," he muttered. "Scratch that."

[identity profile] centuryjenny.livejournal.com 2008-04-26 10:15 pm (UTC)(link)
"Well bugger," Jenny replied to Cayce. "Katou, how's your night vision? Can you take to the air, see if you can find the girl? She has a man with her, don't move in, get me first. It sounds like two against one is a better bet."

[identity profile] katoustheshit.livejournal.com 2008-04-26 10:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Katou didn't answer right away. He couldn't remember Elle's aura completely, but was sure that if he got wind of it, he'd recognize it. "It's okay," he said. "I'll see you ladies later." Then, he spread his wings again, took a couple of running steps, and then lept into the air. His beginning was a little shaky, but his got his balance back in no time.

[identity profile] centuryjenny.livejournal.com 2008-04-26 10:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Jenny watched Katou take off, and then turned to Cayce. "Let's try this on foot, then?" She paused, and then sent a few sparks of electricity into one of the nearby lamps. The glass shattered, but the sparks continued traveling down Main Street. "I'll see if I can find her myself," she added.
caycep: (Hmm.)

[personal profile] caycep 2008-04-26 10:25 pm (UTC)(link)
"Let's do it," Cayce said, with a confidence she almost felt.

[identity profile] centuryjenny.livejournal.com 2008-04-26 10:47 pm (UTC)(link)
And Jenny had been doing this for too long to be completely fooled by that. She took a last drag of her cigarette, dropped it on the ground (if the park was gonna clean up her mess anyway, why not?), and began walking towards Main Street purposefully. But she turned to Cayce, and said "I've fried superbastards a lot bigger than this one. Why'd he go after you in the first place?"
caycep: (*facepalm*)

[personal profile] caycep 2008-04-26 11:03 pm (UTC)(link)
"Ah, heh." Cayce looked a little embarrassed. "Well, someone told him that I keep a record of everyone in the park, which I do, and I guess he wanted this girl's name and where she lived. Only he set off my creep alarms before I gave him the information. So he tried to scare it out of me, and when I tried to slow him down and get away, he, uh..." She shivered a little at remembered pain. "It didn't go well. Fortunately a—someone else happened along then and, I guess, smacked him down."

[identity profile] centuryjenny.livejournal.com 2008-04-26 11:13 pm (UTC)(link)
"Mmm," Jenny replied. It was obvious enough Cayce didn't want to say who delivered the aforementioned smack down, so she didn't ask. "Fucking bastard. Do anything else about it other than have your friend get him to fuck off? No one mentioned any protocol for what you do when you've got some bastard going about attacking women and generally being a pain in the arse. This a genuine bloody state of nature here or what?"
caycep: (Hmm.)

[personal profile] caycep 2008-04-26 11:17 pm (UTC)(link)
"Gave Elle a heads-up, among others. The problem is not causing panic or stirring up some kind of lynch mob while still making sure people are informed. The thing is ... we haven't really had people fucking around with other people like this." As far as Cayce knew, anyway. "There's a couple of iffy characters, but this guy is the first one to actually be dangerous. And no one really knows what to do." She sighed. "There was an attempt at starting some kind of police force, a while back. It met with pretty strong opposition; basically, folks were afraid it'd set up an abusable authority system."

"No arguments there," Jenny muttered, with a quirk of her lips. "Wouldn't trust most of the cops I've met to run things. I think what you did sounds about right," she said. "Lynch mob's no good, especially against someone with powers. Just ask because it makes me wonder who picks a fight with the bads who don't give off the creepy vibe. Sounds like you lot have been all right, though."

She shrugged, carefully glancing in the windows of the nearest shop, and keeping an eye out for movement.

"Funny you should mention abusable authority systems," she added conversationally. "That's what I did before I came here. Never thought I'd ever see a place that didn't have one. Other than hoarding the bloody booze systems."

"Sorting them out, you mean?" Cayce smirked. "Too bad you never made it to my Earth in 2004. Or maybe about a year and a half earlier."
