A ripple of very bright reddish-orange rippled through the drone's aura at the mention of the "engagement"; it was sort of a drone O RLY? "Glad someone's keeping busy," it said out loud.

The "human" comment elicited another ripple of colour, this one pink marbled with blue. "I'm a Culture drone," it said, with the air of someone giving an explanation to a slow child. "Our workings aren't that far off of human."

It was intrigued, now. So AIs in Fett's world didn't have humanoid reactions or emotions? Were the limits of their programming more constrained? That would explain a lot about the man's reactions.
